Intro to Economics (EconNotes: 1/35)
We can argue that YouTube is not the best place for an economist to start their career, but good old Crash Course always comes in handy. And I’ve even taken notes on every video, so I figured I might as well share.
Economics is the study of people and choices.
“A study of man in the ordinary business of life. It enquires how he gets his income and how he uses it. Thus, it is on the one side, the study of wealth and on the other and more important side, a part of the study of a man.” - Alfred Marsh
opportunity cost - whatever you give up to do something
scarcity - the tension between infinite wants and finite resources
incentives - a set of external (rather than intrinsic) motivators that explain people’s choices
macroeconomics - the study of production, employment, prices, and policies on a nationwide scale
microeconomics - the study of how consumers, workers, and firms interact to generate outcomes in specific markets

Just the front pages of my notes (from yesterday). I’m not really having a great day - the pressure’s so low and I’m soooo tired already (even though it’s just 11am and I’ve drunk like 2 cups of coffee so far). I’ll be continuing the work I’ve assigned myself though (and hopefully get to sleep at a reasonable time). Lots of love, H.
200324 : second day of online classes. today was a slow start but aiming to still be productive despite it. here are my intermediate microeconomics notes + my bullet journal spread as of now for the week
