New notecards! ✨ They are nearly as pretty on the inside as they are on the outside:
Because I do not currently have access to a printer, I am in the process of writing Daggerheart out onto notecards by hand (shh, it’s soothing). So far I’ve got the ancestries, communities, classes and subclasses on cards, and I’m just starting on the domains.
(I did this for my spells in D&D 5e too, I just like note cards, they’re satisfying. And yes, I know I could go print the cards at a library, but I just enjoy this method).
As a bonus, taking the time to write the cards out means I get a chance to ponder on them more, because writing focuses my brain. So I’m finding some gems as I go. For example, the Level 6 Arcana Spell ‘Telekinesis’ is textually and explicitly the spell for when you want to hit a bitch with a bitch, and you don’t want to have to be a brawny physical type to do it.
You make a spellcast roll to use your mind to pick up a target within Far range of you and move them to within Far range of their original position, so in theory you can use this to take someone on the edge of your range and put them at twice that. But then the fun comes in, because once you’ve successfully picked someone up, you can make a second spellcast roll against a second target to essentially throw the first one at them. Only the second target takes damage, for reasons I’m not entirely sure of (is your mind cushioning the first?), but it’s still spectacular. You just yoink somebody into the air to throw them at someone else.
Arcana is the domain shared between sorcerers and druids, and honestly that tracks? Sorcerers are your Carrie types, and druids have always been about making magic as tactile and full-contact as possible. Heh.
Been busy lately with school, but that means I get to have some fun with my notes!
