I feel restless, I seriously need to get my sleeping schedule back on track. Pretty good day otherwise.
I finally received my eco nuts in the mail and got to try them out today. I’ve heard that they don’t work as well or don’t sud up if you use cold water, but it literally says on the box that it’ll work even if you don’t see any suds. I always wash my clothes in cold water, so I’m relieved I don’t have to make any adjustments. They smelled fresh after washing with the eco nuts, plus there was no artificial chemical smell which I greatly prefer. Sooo, round one with eco nuts is a success I’d say!
It says in the directions to just put the bag aside and let it dry out, but that seems a bit counter-intuitive to me. I feel like leaving the berry shells in the bag for an extended period of time will be a breeding ground for mildew and bacteria; in fact I was a bit bummed to discover that the inside of the bag already smells a bit mildew-y. I’ve literally only had it for less than a day, so it must’ve already been like this. I think it’s actually the draw-string that smells, probably because it was wet and not dried in a reasonable amount of time. It’s not overwhelming or anything and can probably be taken care of easily enough, I just worry that it’s an indication of worse things to come. I’d be really interested in hearing other people’s experience with this. I removed the berries from the bag for now and placed the bag in front of a fan to dry out faster.
Today I opted to hang my clothes on the line to dry instead of using a dryer! I actually have a functional clothesline and it’s silly not to utilize it. Might as well save some energy and money and water. :)
I want a machete so bad for various outdoor adventures. I’m feeling really inspired to make soap out of yucca root as it is so abundant around here. Raven’s dad says it makes a great shampoo which I love the idea of. I tried the no-poo trend years ago, using only ACV (or was it white vinegar? now I can’t remember!) to wash and condition my hair and applying a bit of coconut oil once it dried. Not really sure why I stopped, but I want to explore more home made options this time. Speaking of ACV, I’m making my own now, too, which is pretty sweet. 😎
