i agree w that, like it seemed to me like, well either dave doesnt want to admit he hasnt kissed/dated anyone, or hes kissed karkat but doesnt wanna admit it, but like that doesnt have to mean theyre still dating, maybe they tried for a bit and it didnt rlly work, or theyre fwbs, whatev. bt like w the being in love he could very easily be in love with john and stuff? which he might have not told anyone about, or just karkat

I didn’t want to bring in John in the whole meta bc I was afraid I’d just start rambling about johndavekat tbh xD but??? the last part is??? literally what happened tho???i mean. dave had mentioned that he’d been feeling dysphoric about his identity all this time... it is absolutely very much possible that he had a secret crush on john which he never even thought of acknowledging atm?

shit, and then he’s discovering himself, and karkat’s just ‘got over’ his black crush on john too (and then john showed up to punch vriska and bamboozled the shit outta erryone but yeah), and hell, then they learn that he’s dead (i’m not actually sure about this one tho, how would they have communicated? dream bubbles? *shrug?) - so.... ahem, yah. anyway moving on.

what if during the three years dave eventually realized (that is, came to terms with =P) that he’d loved john? and kk and he were close, they kept to themselves, and he probably confessed to him.

and eventually if they did turn to some out-of-quads-out-of-labels pale-n-pail type of thing, i think they’d prefer being bros more than the ‘benefits’ part. hell dave prolly likes keeping the crew guessing or doesn’t give a fuck (the latter lol)

maybe they’re on and off for dating because they like being friends and feelsjamming and watching shit ass romcoms. it doesn’t look like red stuff to me tbh (not that i’m saying red can’t have all this too, i just get such sugar pale vibes from them i physically cannot ship them red even if i want to???)

and now john is back, and dave just saw that karkat is probably all awkward about his ex-black crush too, and he doesn’t know if he should be jealous, and if so, whom to be jealous of??? or what he should even feel??? and john’s back wow holy shit???? uhhhh??? what is happening - oh wait oh no okay omg john’s doing his “straight ally” thing again gdi that is it *cue the whole conversation*

so.... this got long winded and... yeah. i love your interpretation.
