Caught part of an old Leave it to Beaver episode:
Eddie Haskell was telling someone a big lie about the coach wanting him back on the football team, how the coach was begging him and was down on his knees pleading for Eddie to come back to the team, practically crying.
Of course in reality Eddie was kicked off the team.
Suddenly I realized, this sounds just like trump. Eddie Haskell is just a less evil, less cruel version of the lying asshole that is currently passing himself off as our president.
But unlike the fictional Eddie where everyone knows he is a blowhard loser, some people actually believe the ridiculous lies trump spews.
Truth is indeed stranger than fiction.
