Word of the Day: D&D Inspiration: Edentate
2. Belonging or pertaining to the Edentata, an order of New World mammals characterized by the absence of incisors and canines in the arrangement of teeth and compromising armadillos, sloths and the South American anteaters.
Eden/ Aiden Tate or Tate Eden would be great names for an NPC that is all bluster and positing, without any backbone, conviction, power and/or authority.
A milquetoast and meek official that pushes around the poor and needy, but crumbles under any fight back, especially when confronted by PCs.
The word and name have a nice ring to it, so it could also be a meek and craven character that eventually finds their backbone and 'teeth' and/ or is forced to become a hero and confront their fears in the vein of Samwise Tarly and Tolkien's Hobbits.
I do enjoy coming up with NPCs, ideas and concept based on words of the day from dictionary.com and mental exercises that can yield fruit for D&D and stories.
