Halloween Drabble
This is totally not based on my bad costume choices or anything.. The reason this is out nov 1st instead of y'know, Halloween is becuz I literally fell asleep writing it last night. Lmao, sorry guys. Featuring Edge (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
The cold night breeze against your bare skin made you shiver. Fuck, it was cold. You suppose it was your fault for wearing a costume incorporating a summer dress, but you hadn't thought that through at the time. Your costume was cute, it fit your style well and you'd say it was pretty popular, you'd gotten tons of compliments on it from trick or treaters already, and you've only been handing out candy for thirty minutes. But with the temperatures dropping now that the sun was nearly gone, you regretted your decisions just a little.
You clenched your teeth to try and stop the clattering of them. Forcing a wide smile. You were sitting on a propped up and fully decked out decorated table with a witch's cauldron with nearly no Halloween candy in it in the middle of your driveway. Kids came running up with their big toothy grins and bags out. You couldn't possibly just abandon the candy out here because you made a stupid miscalculation in temperature. Besides, you knew the moment you left those buggers would rob your candy reserves blind without leaving any for other Trick or Treaters.
Your shoulders fall as you let out a shuddery sigh in defeat. This was your own doing, now you have to bear the consequences.
You hear the familiar squeaky hinges of your old garage door opening.
"I'VE BROUGHT THE REST OF THE CANDY."
You turn to see the tall skeleton walking towards you with four big bags of various candies in his hands.
You can't help but let out a small chuckle at his costume. He was dressed in a fancy red shirt, with white ruffles at his collar. White sleeves matched his ruffles. He had a long black cape following him as well. Out of everything though, the little fangs brought his vampire costume together.
You can't believe you actually convinced him to dress up.
"Good, the cauldron's nearly empty."
"IT DOESN'T HELP THAT YOU KEEP EATING FROM IT."
"What are you talking about? I'd never eat candy reserved for children." You say trying to pull the most innocent face you can.
Edge scoffs.
He sits down beside you as another group of trick or treaters approach.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
A shiver runs through you; it did not take long for the cold to start bothering you again at all. The foldable metal chair you were sitting on definitely didn't help you at all. You try to just focus on handing out candy.
You can't. The wind picks up slightly but it's just enough to make it feel like it dropped twenty degrees.
Something soft and heavy falls on your shoulders.
You look over, catching Edge's eyes before he quickly looks down to his cape as he tucks it around you. You swear you see a soft red on his cheeks, maybe not, it's too dark to really tell.
"I Told You That You Would Be Cold." Edge mumbles.
Edge was giving you his cape.
Holy shit.
"Thank you."
You see Edge falter, he almost seems like he's trying to process the comment.
"WEAR SOMETHING WARMER NEXT TIME." He scolds, before he falls back into his chair.
