EDGE 905, composed of 12 artists from the GTA and London, ON. The opening night of the show was overwhelming with success and a very humbling experience I got to share with my fellow artists, my group of friends and family.
For my first group show I learned a lot about team work and perseverance. It is not easy as it looks to put a show together, you learn valuable things about others and also about yourself. I learned that I can’t do everything myself, it’s better to ask for help. When you ask, it doesn’t hurt. You actually don’t lose anything, you just gain. I also learned that I am anal. I like things perfect, but sometimes that is also a fault and a line needs to be drawn to that anal factor. It is also in this experience that I learned that when you put your hard work into it and your passion, it will manifest through others and that it will be appreciated.
It’s not always easy to be confident at what you love doing because of the differences that the world contains. Though each day we get up and we face the world, we just have to tell ourselves that other’s opinion doesn’t validate who we are. It is what we think and believe in ourselves matters the most. As my new favoured quote says “It is more important to be of pure intention than of perfect action.”- Ilyas Kassam, your personal growth matters on your honesty and humble decisions.
I want to thank you my professors who continuously believe in their students, without them there wouldn’t be young artists pushing themselves to be the best they could be.
