Sunday Time Capsule Part 6: This Sunday we will focus on a member of our family who was a Confederate soldier. Samuel Benton Caldwell was a brother to my Great Grandmother (Sarah Tennessee Dotson Caldwell) and fought for the South in Tennessee. He was born around 1843 and died in 1864 / 1865. He was captured by the Yankees and became a POW. He died in the Yankee Prison in Alton Illinois. The book in the photo was with him during the war and later returned to our family.
