Originally, we were supposed to be in Niagara Falls and Cooperstown this week, but that got caronaed out a few months ago. We decided to go to Roan Mountain, Tenn., instead. Then, we looked at the forecast: heavy rain, all day, every day. We pared it down once more: two nights at #colletonstatepark and a paddle down the #EdistoRiver. The weather was great, the paddling fun and not a rain ☁️ or corona virus in sight. Rest of the week will be a #staycation. I will never forget the look on my dads face the day we celebrated his cousins life and sent his ashes down the river. He was the last of the 3 musketeers and he was broken- I saw little pieces of him float away with the dust. It was a surreal experience and a beautiful day despite the circumstances. I didn’t even know this little landing existed in Denmark (Not that I know a whole lot about Denmark). Everyone was talking about their experiences and memories from the river. My Aunt was talking about riding down the road in my cousins van, my dad was talking about riding the horses there... things that I never knew until that moment. I painted this piece for my Dad.
