GrandAmmi presents: BALD GANG
A playful EP that folds humor into a cross-genre blend of rock, pop, EDM, dubstep, and folk-leaning textures.
GrandAmmi has built a small but distinct lane by treating electronic rock as a space for jokes that still land musically. The Norwegian artist’s latest EP, BALD GANG leans into that identity with a concept that is deliberately simple, even silly on the surface, but framed with careful production choices that stand out and help the whole project acquire its own distinct sonic identity. The track "Baldest of Them All," for example, is a perfect opener, as it threads Irish folk stomping rhythms and melodies with pop songwriting through EDM and awesome drops. "Bald Gang Movement" offsets that digital weight with metal-tinged guitar tones, with heavy drops and down-tuned riffs. It is not an attempt at novelty for novelty’s sake. The humor is part of the point, but the structure is built with enough intent to hold together across its stylistic pivots. "Bald Gang Anthem" is just as fun, leaning deeper into a melodic pop-EDM twist, which would make AVICII proud!
The EP is also a positive nod to all the bald heads out there, as i frames baldness as a shared, lightly worn badge rather than a punchline. It treats the idea of the “bald gang” as inclusive, less a club with rules than a loose metaphor for owning small insecurities and turning them into something communal. Instead of leaning on parody, GrandAmmi centers the track on affirmation, suggesting that confidence can be learned through repetition and shared language.
Production-wise, the tracks on the EP move offer a very diverse tone, as the style floats between clean pop hooks and heavier electronic sections that draw from dubstep’s stop-start energy. There is also room for rock and folk elements, providing contrast and energy. Overall, every single track presents a modern, high-impact sound palette, but the songs stay light on their feet, refusing the seriousness that often comes with maximalist production. The result is music that aims to entertain without shrugging off craft. The EP’s tongue-in-cheek framing does not undercut the attention given to arrangement and mix decisions. Instead, it positions humor as a tool for access, inviting listeners in before the song’s heavier elements take hold.
In BALD GANG, GrandAmmi frames self-acceptance as something that can be loud, communal, and fun. The track works because it commits to its premise while still treating songwriting and production as serious work. It is a reminder that light-hearted music does not have to be lightweight, and that sincerity can live comfortably inside a joke. GrandAmmi continues to refine a project that treats good times as a creative principle rather than a side effect.
