I can definitely see huge art improvement jumps in my style from 2022 -> 2023 -> 2024 -> 2025
So I'm really curious how he'll look in my current style in 2025.

EdRich (Edward/Richard) is my fave ship from the series 🖤💛❤️🤍
Cheerful Golden Retriever with a bright disposition x Grumpy Aloof Stoic Black Cat 🐕🐈⬛
They're from a niche dark gothic shoujosei (that is VERY heavy, please heed the TW/CWs for this series), based on Shakespeare's Tragedy Plays, Richard III and Henry VI.
I originally read the series in 2022.
They drive me crazy they're such a good ship on god
I've been writing for them since 2022, I just finally became public about them (since I've just been sharing them privately with mutuals)
I make ship AUs for most of my top fave ships for each series. I have about 20+ in total across my fandoms.
The EdRich AU is one of the first ship AUs I made (and one of the first series I started doing dialogue scripts for)
It started with my KHR AU when I was a teen, and then I did it when I wanted to create and write for my EdRich AU in 2022.
I can write a pretty in-depth Pros and Cons list of the series at some point. I love it but I also have very conflicted feelings about it because some parts of the series are distasteful to me (writing wise and other issues)
(Unfortunately, the series doesn't have anything to do with EdRich as a ship at all, so I wanted to explore their potential together. Basically, they're a big brain that my mutuals and I came up with.)
Though they're such an obvious pair, since Edward is canonically in love with Richard in a very sincere way, it's unfortunately just hopelessly unrequited in canon.
Canon-verse Richard doesn't care for Edward much (especially when compared to other charas in the cast), sighs......
Which is honestly pretty disappointing, since their charas and dynamic/dynamic potential compels me the most.
I wish Edward's love wasn't unrequited to the extent that it is in the series' narrative...
They're my fave charas of the series, and I love their deep parallelisms together.
Also I'm not using the series' name in my text rambles here cuz I want to avoid my rambles showing up in fandom search results rn
I dislike the majority of the fanbase since they're generally really uncritical and/or immature.
I was debating whether to tag my rambles or not, but as of the moment I don't think I will.
I wanna post both my AU fan-works and crits of this series later only as an update for my mutuals (as of the moment)
And I don't want my crit rambles to gain unsavoury traction/interactions.
I will use the #edrich and #edrh tags to tag my rambles for this series for now ^^
I'm debating creating links to public Notion pages and posting the links on Tumblr to talk about my crits of the series. We'll see.

Iirc in the LN, Edward's eyes were described as "Edward’s eyes are the colour of the sea that reflects the same blue sky (Henry)" so I want to keep that ref 🙏

One thing I can observe is that my line weights and sketching style have gotten significantly better since 2022
Nowdays I usually use inky strokes to make my art look more interesting
By usually putting thicker lines where lines intersect

Edward seems to be loved by the fandom as a character, but hardly anyone /actually/ ships him with Richard.
What gives.
No one actually ships them together or even sees the potential of them as a serious ship (like not just a gag/comedy thing), despite liking Edward.
Like not even the possibility of them as a serious ship comes to mind for most people???

Me: God it's so cursed that the ship with the potential for such a deep understanding of each other (due to their similar circumstances) just has Richard be totally indifferent to him in canon-verse
In my EdRich AU, Edward finally develops past constantly misgendering Richard (unlike in canon sighs...)
Like in canon what dooms their relationship is Edward's hopelessly unrequited love
I feel like the biggest problem is that, other than what I mentioned above, due to their circumstances, they were never able to meet and communicate in situations that would allow them to create a deeper kinship and understanding with each other.
Like they don't ever meet for long and the scenes where Edward tags along with Richard under disguise as a York noble are very short.
Fatally doomed for hostility and blood and misunderstanding.
So that's why it's unfortunate that they didn't get much interactions...

So I obviously wrote scenes where they're able to bond with each other on a deeper level

I always gravitate towards rare pairs and niche popular ships
My ship philosophy is that I don't need my ships to be canon to be king 👑
It's just fine if I do my own things with them outside of the source material.
When it comes to the source material itself, I just need my faves to interact and I want to see good contents from them that fits their characterization.
As an update from me, I have my graduation ceremony tomorrow.
Unfortunately it's early in the morning so we'll be making preparations today 🙏

I was debating whether to draw this concept in my cartoony style or in my usual style...
For the last one, I like the art idea/composition of putting your hand on a mirror, and the person on the other side mimicking said action.
