My oomf knows KR so I feel like it'd be ok to tell her that I wanted to comm this artist with KuroEne in this style and ask her to check over my comm form, but admittedly I feel shy 😭

Ok the auto translator seems to be working decently (enough for me to view over the TOS)
They seem to accept most yume ships, but will reject series or ships they don't like, which is fair.
This artist blacklisted requesting certain series from their list.
They reject CC and yume ship comms with a couple of their faves, which is understandable.
They say that they don't use mid-tones for dark skin for this comm due to the limited colours.
The TOS lists that no midtones/screentones will be used, even for darker skin and scars.
Not the worst thing in the world considering the limited colour palette, but I'm still kinda ??? about that... 😭

I always look over an artist's TOS and portfolio on VGen to see whether they can draw LGBT+ ships and darker skinned charas. Otherwise I don't comm them.
I usually comm on VGen and other socials (Insta, Twt), cuz I prefer working with artists who are OK with doing minor revisions.
I've ordered a bunch of Skeb style comms from VGen. These artists still allow minor detail fixes (ex. colour and detail fixes, skintone changes, etc.)
That's why I much prefer being able to put more inputs in as the client, if any colour/detail fixes are needed.

Colourism is a HUGE issue, including in EA/SEA spaces.
All the times I've seen a darker skinned chara get drawn whitewashed or with an "ashy" looking skin tone is way too many to count 💀
Changing the skintone and adjusting it to be slightly darker is such a minor fix.
Maybe I should start with KuroEne first to "test the waters" for how the comm will turn out cuz both of them are pasty/have light skin

I've seen numerous tweets from people talking about how they've received Skeb comms they were unhappy with cuz they didn't allow any changes AND whitewashed their sonas or OCs.
Honest to god, I'd permanently blacklist an artist if they ever refuse to do skin tone changes, etc., especially since all my refs clearly have my characters and faves with tanner/darker skin. I'd be so upset and annoyed.
With cell shading styles, these minor edits are quick to do, too.
With some rendered styles, some colours would need to be redone, but the artist should've followed the client's refs from the beginning.
Thankfully I've personally never run into this problem with Selena being whitewashed in a comm, and let's hope it stays that way.
All the artists on I've commed (including on VGen and other socials like Twitter and Insta) have been super kind about minor edits and revisions, including skin tone changes and detail fixes 🙏

Seeing their design made me want to do a redesign too.
I'd make him have more inspo from Azami's clothes and have him wear traditional clothes instead.
I love the braids in the back, black snake scales and horns, white sashes, red sclera and gradient limbs
I love everything down to the face. I don't vibe with the outfit tho, so I'd just draw a redesign version instead.
It's only in BW so it's hard to tell what ends where. The details are kinda confusing to me.
I'd make him take more inspo from his Design Poll outfit + Azami's clothes.
I'd make him have a white floating scarf around his arms. I'll probably play around with the outfit design
In my redesign, I'd give him a Pibo (hanfu shawl) esque scarf to wear around his arms.
I like the shape language of Áo tứ thân (lit. "four piece/part dress")
I feel like I'd draw him in this Áo tứ thân but in black and red instead.
So he'd mainly be wearing black with red accents (red cross collar)
I'd have him wear black pants, white sashes tied around the waist and over his arms, and have the black front panel be dyed with a red gradient at the bottom.
I imagined that him being a "living encylopedia" irt knowledge is how he's able to surpass current human tech/advancements and make Ene's android body.

Not sure when I'll draw it but I had an art idea of Kuroha draping a translucent black bridal veil over himself and Ene with a smirk. One hand is holding the bridal veil and draping it over their heads, and the other is caressing near her face gently.
The art concept is so sexy when I imagine it in my head so I'll try to turn it into reality… Maybe I should draw them in wedding clothes rather than their usual outfits, but even if they're wearing their usual outfits, they'd still look sexy with a veil being draped over them.

OH. I think a few things comes to mind irt minor revisions.
I'm also sure that Hika drew Ene's hair accessories (roses) that way, so that it wouldn't create too many tangents/intersections (which affects readability/clearer shapes in art)

Because I think I want Hika to shift the hues for their colours slightly, and for Ene's clothes to be more cyan blue, just like the wedding kimono ref I sent 💙

Usually I draft colour palettes when artists ask me for colour revisions because it prevents a lot of needless back and forth (and makes for clearer and quicker communication) 🙏
Imo it helps gives a clearer idea to the artist than just saying, "Shift the hues warmer"
Cuz then the artist and client gets a clearer visual idea on how to shift the colour palette and suit it to their style.
I always try to let the artist have full range with their artistic vision irt poses, compositions, and colours (unless I have specific ones in mind) 👍
Though I usually give them pose and comp ideas if they prefer more direction.
And then I draft a colour palette if needed, for minor colour revisions.

Basically, I saw that Rin, an ID/SEA artist, drew KuroEne in the past, and I found out they were offering comms, so I asked if they could draw KuroEne in traditional wedding kimono 🙏

My Ideas
Ene can wear iro-uchikake (色打掛, "Colourful wedding kimono"), the 2nd highest formal wedding kimono, that has a draping bridal trail 💙🤍
Kuroha/Saeru can wear the traditional formal men's kimono, Daiichi reisou (第一礼装), the highest level of formal wear for men's kimono, which consists of black (黒, kuro) montsuki kimono, haori jacket, and hakama 🖤🩶🤍
Since Kuroha's main colours are black and gray (and yellow), the traditional black, gray, and white colours really fit him.
At first, I thought about them carrying black and blue Wagasa (和傘, "Oil paper umbrellas")
But I felt like it'd clutter the piece (and add too much detail complexity especially with how detailed their outfits are), and I'd rather the focus be on their faces.
I imagined that Ene would wear blue flower accessories in her hair 💙🤍💐

One of my fave flowers that I love is Wisteria.
I consider it a Selena flower 💜
I associate it to my KHR OC and beloved wife 💞
It's a purple flower and also a poisonous flower
In Vietnam we call it Hoa tử đằng (lit. "Flower behind death"), and Cây đậu tía ("Purple bean tree")
Also Hoa fuji ("Fuji/Wisteria flowers") is used when referring to the JP variant
There are both JP and CN variants of Wisteria
"Flower behind Death" is especially fitting for them... Sighs... :'^) 🖤💙

I imagine that they would both have open eyed expressions...
I imagine Saeru would still have his signature smug smirk, but that his gaze would be a little softer in this...
While Ene has a happy smiling expression (^v^)
I imagined that they their fingers would be intertwined
And Ene has a hand to his face, while Saeru has his other hand coming around the back of Ene's neck
Just used CSP's 3D models to get a quick idea as a rough visual guide.
I had this at first but then I was worried that his kimono sleeves would obscure too much of Ene's kimono, and I want Ene's kimono to be visible in the piece.
Feila suggested a kind of pose where their fingers would be intertwined. So I did this after! Now both their kimono sleeves can be visible and not cover too much of the other 👍
