Some of my pals on here know me outside of tumblr and most don't. So most won't know that I have a little genetic gift called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
It basically means my collagen (the glue that holds a human together...or is supposed to, if it does its damn job correctly) is way more lax than it should be. It makes my joints hypermobile. I can bend in weird ways, both with large joints (i.e. that crazy contortionist shit of putting my legs behind my head etc) and also small joints (i.e my fingers are creepily flexible and can basically wrap around each other, bend right back to touch my wrist etc).
I have a lot of problems with dislocations, both full and partial (called subluxations), but I tend to manage okay, because I don't have it half as bad as some people with EDS. I'm one of the 'lucky' ones. Mostly I sublux, meaning my joints either only partially come out or they pull out and go back in again, sometimes not completely going back into the right position though.
I'm currently dealing with a subluxed shoulder. For the 11th time. And that's just the right shoulder.
Tbh it's exhausting. My use of pain meds is minimal, as I really worry about building up any kind of tolerance or becoming reliant on them. But after a heavy day at work, looking after other people, it's taking its toll.
Any and all good vibes are appreciated, but I mostly just needed to vent my frustration in this post. I just hope the holy k-tape that I rely on so much will pull through for me quickly and get this shoulder back in its rightful place soon. It's been 4 days now.
