Some people believe that education system is a method to develop students to become more compatible in the working society. However, in my opinion, schooling should be based on shaping the broad framework of the children’s life. The reason is because education is basically all about gaining knowledge and its value which, in the end, shapes one’s direction of life as a whole.
To begin with, the ages of school education is the most imperative period of time when it comes to developing one’s perspectives and values of life. These teenage years are old enough to learn from others and think rationally to some extent. Nonetheless, they are still immature to have a strong standpoint in making decisions, which is why schooling
is needed to develop one’s maturity. Unlike preparing for jobs, which can be trained at anytime, preparing for an actual life after teenage years cannot be achieved in any random period of time, there is a time limit. To illustrate, a boy who was raised up by a wild animal could not live the way how humans live even after all of the teachings and practicing he had done.
On top of that, life should always come first. Work is something after. Life is literally what one will have for the rest of one’s life. It is almost impossible to alter one’s set of mind after it’s fixed. In other words, if one has gained entirely wrecked-up set of mind long ago, one’s strong will is not enough change the way it is already framed. On the contrary, job is transitory, thus can be easily changed if one wishes to with relatively weak willingness to reform. Work is merely one factor that comprises life.
In a nutshell, the value of life exceeds the value of life and therefore school education should focus on helping students to get ready for encountering their future life. In this regard, I strongly support the importance of education system focusing on life preparation.
