Kundalini herself will make a determination...

Kundalini comes to all people inside very different cultures. Im not a Hindu and it came to me. Im not a Buddhist and it came to me. Im not a Christian or a Muslim or a Zoroastrian or a shaman and yet Kundalini aka Holy Spirit, aka Shekinah, aka Greater Kan and Li, aka, red serpent energy, etc. call it what you will but still came to me.

Its been made very clear to me by the Kundalini that religion is NOT required. Yet at the same time religion can be an opportunity for devotion and kindness and prayer perhaps even meditation and this IS required at certain stages.

India is blessed to have been able to keep some of the Kundalini traditions of the Rishis in a better state of purity than other countries with their own ancient knowledge have been able to do. So "much honor and gratitude" in this regard goes to India. Doesnt make Hinduism (which is a form of shamanism) any more truthful than any other religion.

Any religion that has human interaction within the control vectors of that religion will have the signature of ego control within its teachings. It is this human ego element that allows for the corruption to germinate.

Needing to dump their failed MC-10, Tandy looked for an unsuspecting European country to offload stock onto. And lo, they saw France. Similar to the BBC’s Computer Literacy Project, France was working on their Informatique pour tous ("Information technology for everyone") programme. And for that, they needed a microcomputer that could be made affordable for educational use. So Tandy worked alongside automotive company Matra and publishing company Hachette to re-brand the TRS-80 MC-10 as the Alice.

The initial Alice was exactly the same as the MC-10, just in a red case that had different logos on it, and the more French-friendly AZERTY keyboard layout and a SCART video output connection. In 1984, it was revised into the Alice 32 (pictured above, top), which saw several improvements. The MC6847 video chip was replaced with the EF9345, a more powerful chip that could handle 80-collumn text. The memory was expanded to 8K user + 8K dedicated video memory, plus a new 16K ROM that had a built-in assembler. One year later in 1985, the Alice 90 (pictured above, bottom) was released, which replaced the chiclet keyboard with a proper full travel keyboard, increased the user memory to 32K, and added a video-in connector to allow for video editing.

Of interest is the artwork used on the packaging and manuals. This was an illustration by Jean Giraud, aka the legendary French comic artist Moebius (Blueberry, The Incal, Jodorowsky's Dune), who was commissioned to make art for the Alice.

The Tandy TRS-80 MC-10 was Tandy’s attempt to compete with the Commodore VIC-20. Released in 1983 and based on the TRS-80 CoCo 1, this machine retailed for a paltry $119.99, which did not give you much at all. It used a Motorola 6803 CPU clocked at 890KHz (that’s under a megahertz!) with 4K RAM and 8K ROM featuring BASIC. It could do color video with the same MC6847 found in the proper CoCo system, and be upgraded to 20K RAM with an addon.

However, it was a complete and total mess. In 1983, a new microcomputer was expected to have things like:

Full travel keyboards

Disk drive support

Medium resolution graphics

64K of memory

This system has a chiclet keyboard, only used cassette tapes, low resolution graphics, and barely any memory. It also has really bad RS-232 serial functionality. The 6803 CPU has a built-in UART, so it SHOULD be able to do it without needing any special hardware or hacks. But the engineers only provided one timing crystal - a 3.58 MHz TV colorburst crystal to properly generate video - which did not divide correctly for serial communication timing. Instead, all serial communications are done manually in software, which results in a very unstable and difficult-to-use connection. The MC-10 was canned in 1984, less than a year after it was released. Now, what to do with all that unused stock...

The Olivetti M20 is a curious beast of a microcomputer. Originating from Italy (but seeing a release internationally with a slightly altered color scheme), this system was released in March of 1982 for the heart-stopping price of $5,400. Powering this system is a processor rarely seen elsewhere... Zilog, the creator of the 8-bit Z80 microprocessor, had developed their own 16-bit expansion called the Z8000. And this computer used one, clocked at 4MHz.

Base RAM was 128KB, expandable to 512KB. Expanded RAM allowed for the use of color displays instead of a monochrome, greenscale, or amberscale monitor. Though, you couldn’t just connect any old CGA monitor to it, or even use RF and your TV. The Olivetti M20 had its own proprietary video connection, locking you into only being able to use Olivetti’s official monitors. Storage was either a pair of 5.25″ floppy drives, or one 5.25″ floppy drive and a 11.25MB Winchester hard disk drive.

The BIOS is stored on 12KB of ROM, and the stock system boots to a user-unfriendly custom operating system called Professional Computer Operating System, or PCOS. It used a confusing vocabulary of commands, and did not support using the backspace or delete keys! (You have to press CTRL + H to delete a character. What?) File storage was painful and limited, similar to the earliest versions of MS-DOS and CP/M. And there was little to no software available for it, because developers just were not familiar with Zilog’s 16-bit microprocessor, instead focusing their energies on Intel’s microprocessors. Olivetti tried to solve this first by working with Digital Research on a Z8000 port of CP/M, called CP/M-8000. This helped a little, but it came out at a time when IBM was eating everyone’s lunches with their 5150 PC. This is when Olivetti gritted their teeth and... created a 8086 alternate processor card, which turned the computer into a PC-compatible clone that could run MS-DOS. Good save! Too bad the price of the system and the invasive amounts of vendor lock-in made people look elsewhere anyway.

The TI-92, a powerful graphing calculator, was released in 1995 by Texas Instruments for $200. It featured powerful new functions for advanced mathematic problem solving, and the ability to graph things out in 3D. It... oh wait, the elephant in the room needs to be addressed.

You probably noticed the keyboard on it. Yes, it has a full QWERTY keyboard. This made college boards and many American testing facilities recoil in horror, because once you slap a QWERTY keyboard on A Thing, it becomes... a computer.

So, this thing isn’t a graphing calculator anymore. It’s a computer. It has a Motorola 68000 CPU clocked at 10MHz, 128KB of RAM, and 1MB of non-upgradeable ROM. It has a big 240x128 dot-matrix LCD screen. In 1996 they released the TI-92 II which had 256KB RAM, then in 1998 they released the TI-92+ which had a 12MHz CPU clock and 2MB of Flash ROM, along with a price drop to $179.99.

Yet it was still banned because of that keyboard. Angry and pissed off, Texas Instrument’s engineers went back to the drawing board, and decided to shove and cram the TI-92 into the same form factor and layout as their older graphing calculators.

That resulted in the TI-89, released in 1998 for $159.99. It has roughly the same specs as the TI-92+, except it has a smaller 160x100 screen. But the most important change, and the one that the college board approved of, was the removal of the QWERTY keyboard. Yes, you can still type on it, but it is different, therefore it is not a computer but a calculator.

Texas Instruments tried again with a QWERTY keyboard in 2002, with the Voyager 200, which was the TI-92+ in a different shell and double the Flash ROM. Again, it was banned, but the computationally-equivalent TI-89 Titanium was given a pass for looking more like a calculator. That was the last time they tried to use a QWERTY keyboard on a calculator; the current TI-Nspire series uses an alphabetic layout instead.
