When I say something, it’s not a suggestion, it’s an instruction.
As we entered our final week in Utah we finished off skiing lessons on the fine days at Brighton and Bruce was able to spend a day in Deer Valley skiing with Grandpa and the boys on a spectacular blue-sky day.
I even had a proper day out with my mother-in-law Amanda and we lunched at Mazza, a middle-eastern restaurant in the trendy 9th and 9th area of SLC. Following a delicious lunch, Amanda introduced me to the proper shopping delights of Nordstrom Rack and Robert Redford’s Sundance Catalog Store - both outlets with plenty to offer.
A snow day at the house was easy enough to fill with school work (cue excessive groaning) and a fun challenge of running across a snow-laden deck in bare feet just to mix things up a bit.
As we approached our last weekend in Salt Lake City, we tracked down a popular breakfast spot, called Eggs in the City across town where the kids stuffed themselves with pancakes. Saturday afternoon we added some culture to the mix when we watched Bruce’s Dad, Keith perform as part of a massed choir at University of Utah. It had been almost two years since we last saw Keith sing and we enjoyed the performance immensely.
We also managed to find a local trampoline park where the kids burned off some energy. Of course it ended in tears when the boys were bested by local kids, during a sparing session where the aim was to knock their opponent off a platform into the foam pit below using large foam-filled cylinders We exited after two hours with a fully-fledged dose of the hangries x 3.
Bravely Keith took the kids out all of Monday afternoon into the early evening where they had a educational and fun time at The Planetarium. Keith’s opening words to the kids as they piled into his car:
When I say something, it’s not a suggestion, its an instruction.
Six hours later they all returned in one piece and we had packed up our belongings again ready to fly to Vancouver.
