“Thank you for your time,” she finally said. “If you have any questions, please find me.”

Finally. Edward turned on his heels, as everyone took her dismissal as their cue to leave; everyone else around him turned as well, heading out of the bullpen and dispersing back to their posts. As he did, a familiar, annoying face bumped into him – causing him to stumble slightly forward. He caught himself just in time on a nearby desk, glaring as Detective James Armstrong flashed him a shit-eating grin.

“Watch where you’re going, Nashton,” Armstrong said with a throaty laugh that only sent prickles of irritation across Edward’s skin.
