Probably Interstellar or The Martian. I don’t watch a lot of movies. Haven’t even seen Rogue One or Hidden Figures yet.

Shooting Star: If you could bring back one thing, what would it be?

Societal technological optimism. Also supersonic air transport. And I want to have hamsters again.

Supernova: What’s one thing you want to do before you die?

Go to space, obviously.

But more realistically, I’m going to steal Dr. von Braun’s answer: “I want to help turn the wheel of progress”. I’d be great if that meant flying into space myself, but creating the machines which allow that would be a pleasure of itself.

6. Favorite rocket/manned spacecraft

For all my criticism of the shuttle program, they do look nice on orbit. My preference for the Atlas V falls on similar grounds: they’re so damn pretty!

8. Favorite astronaut

Going just off my limited reading, Chris Hadfield for the station era, Mike Mullane for the classic shuttle era, and I don’t actually have a favorite yet from the space race.

11. Favorite space-related movie/documentary

My family bought a box set of five IMAX space films right around the time I started getting interested in astronautics, which were really kind of formative for me. Despite my intentions, I still haven’t rewatched any of them since high school. (And since my parents moved I have no idea where they are.)

It had Hail Columbia, The Dream is Alive, Mission to Mir, Destiny in Space and...what was the other one? Blue Planet? It’s been a long time.
