Edyth likes to sleep in. There are many days where that isn’t possible, usually due to a schedule, but if she doesn’t need to get out of bed, she won’t. Dk was a good roommate too, quietly leaving their room when she was taking a nap or going to a schedule that didn’t involve her. Which is why being wacked by a pillow is an incredibly shocking way to wake up.
“What?” she tiredly mumbles as she blinks up at her attacker.
Joshua grins at her, a mischievous smile on his lips, “Hurry up, get up.”
Edyth wasn’t sure what she expected from being woken up. It wasn’t super early anymore (it was 11am), so Joshua had been forgiven for his crime, but she still wasn’t sure if she was going to forgive him for making her go outside so early. He dragged her to the Han river, something about wanting to go on a walk but not by himself, and all the members that he had asked to go with him already had plans. She would never admit it to Josh, but Edyth was glad he woke her up for this. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold, with a slight breeze. The river walk was littered with people sitting on blankets and on benches, people running and walking, but it wasn’t crowded. And to really top it off, Joshua had bought them coffee to sip on while they walked.
“Let's sit down for a bit,” Joshua says, gesturing toward the bench up ahead.
The two of them sit next to each other not really talking. It was just that kind of day, Edyth took a deep breath, enjoying a still moment in her otherwise chaotic life. From the bench, she could see a duck being followed by its many ducklings, a group of girls having a picnic together, a bug with- Edyth let out a terrified gasp, fixated on something on the ground. Joshua followed her gaze and saw a large bug walking across the pavement.
Edyth recoiled in fear, pulling her legs from off the ground. “Joshua, look at that!” she exclaimed. “It’s huge!”
Joshua laughs at her, pulling her into him and wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “It’s okay, it’s just a bug. It can’t hurt you.”
Edyth shook her head furiously, “Nothing should have that many legs, it's so… gross.”
“You’re a million times larger than it,” he teased.
“But I only have two legs,” Edyth pouted.
They both watched as the bug scuttled away, becoming invisible to the human eye as it buried itself into the dirt. Still weary that the bug would magically spawn in front of her, Edyth began to lower her legs back off the bench. Amused by her overreaction, Joshua snorts and then falls into laughter, unbothered when Edyth shoves him with a pout on her face for making fun of her.
“I can’t believe you just laughed at me the entire time! You’re supposed to protect me!”
“Protect you?” Joshua chuckles, “From something that was several feet away from you?
Edyth starts to get up from the bench, becoming annoyed by Joshua's teasing.
“Whatever,” she mutters to herself, “ I’m going home.” She makes her way down the trail as Josh rushes after her.
Edyth grows even more annoyed when he throws his arm over her shoulder once he’s caught up to her. She leans over in an attempt to get away from him but he stubbornly holds him in place. From the corner of her eye, she can see Josh's shit-eating grin.
“Edythhhhh,” he says in a sing-songy voice, “don't be like that.”
“You're such a dickhead,” Edyth says.
“C’mon, you know that if that scary bug had gotten any closer than you, I would have gotten rid of it.”
“I hate you.”
Both of them smile.
“I know.”
