Rarity is a kirin—she ran away from home at a young age after the sonic rainboom happened. she was positively inspired by the thing and left to go persue bigger things. The young pony was enveloped in making fashion, and thus continued with the craft. She was welcomed within ponyville after showing ponies the beauty of her work.
Rainbow dash is 3/4ths pegasi and 1/4 zebra. She got it from her mothers side—and despite not being full pegasis, she managed to be the fastest flier in all of her classes. Despite people continually bullying her for how she hung out with the fellow outcast, Fluttershy. The day Rainbow did the rainboom, for a couple months after, her rainbow fluff had been dulled out, being pure white until it finally came back.
Applejack’s backstory is relatively normal to how it is in show. She’s much more bulkier and biologically related to Pinkie pie. They are cousins twice removed.
Twilight Sparkle is a mule, part pony and part donkey. When she was a filly, she had incredible magical ability compared to other half unicorns. Thus, caught the interest of Celestia, who tested her to hatch the dragon egg. In s3, when Twilight got wings, she struggles much more than normal. Due to being a mule, her bones weight her down, making it difficult to fly smoothly. So her main transportation is still walking.
Pinkie pie is a miniature horse! That is also pretty much it. She normally fashions beads in her hair and adores putting it in a bunch of different styles. Her and Applejack having similar coat patterns is purposeful.
Fluttershy is a pegasi half sheep. No matter if she rested on a cloud or tried to fly, her wings couldn’t amount to much more than a quick glide. Her coat used to be very compacted due to her mainly having custody with her pegasi parent. The backstory is relatively normal to how it was back in OG, just being sheepish added to it.
Spike looks moreso like Twilight in a way, specifically because she hatched him faster. The magic blast caused a slight change in how he looked, but nothing too dangerous. I also made him look more raptorish because i thought it was cool :]
