Snake Plissken with a shy reader

I think he would prefer someone who is shy and quiet, not because he likes someone submissive, but because he will get easily distracted either arguing or getting distracted by someone feisty. Especially when he’s in the heat of battle.

At first, he’s afraid you’re scared of him. You don’t say much, and seem to just keep to yourself. He tries not to seem scary, but makes sure it isn’t an outward gesture. When he learns that you’re just shy, he gives you a little bit of that toughness he’s known for.

Speaking of tough, he will be really tough on you if he finds out you’re agreeing with him things just on principle that you don’t want to get him upset by disagreeing with him. He wants to know how you feel, and what you think.

Continuing on that, if you have issues speaking publicly (and you want to change it) he will gently encourage you to speak to others while he stands behind you, and may often tell you to speak up. If you don’t want to change it, he offers to be your voice and speak for you.

He also likes the fact that when you’re with him, you don’t run off, and don’t tend to make much noise, therefore not alerting the enemy to your position, which more often than not, keeps the two of you safe.
