David J Peterson, Conlanger (EG10)

April, 2016: David J. Peterson speaks in tongues - in this world, and others. Peterson is a conlanger. Since 2009, he’s created languages for numerous television shows and films, but before that, he did it just for fun.

My talk at the e.g. Conference just went online, and OMG, look at the still they chose for it! THAT’S MY LITTLE ROMAN! There he is helping us assemble the island in the kitchen! My wife @thisallegra took that picture, and it’s one of his best. :) Anyway, this is the talk I gave at the e.g. Conference last year, and I thought it went all right. Been waiting for it to get online, so I’m happy it’s up now.

I returned yesterday, nourished and exhilarated, from the Entertainment Gathering in Carmel, CA. EG is a conference that brings together innovative people from all walks of life who are the driving forces behind their fields of endeavor. Entrepreneurs, musicians, civic engineers, futurists, scientists, dancers, film makers, designers, artists and more all took the stage over the course of 2.5 days. What a feast!

One of those breathtakingly wonderful people is the fabled Queen of the Deep, Sylvia A. Earle, pictured here with me during a break. Through a dialogue acknowledging the state of the world, the nightmare of 11 (or even 9) billion people inhabiting the planet, and what needs to be done, we bonded.

I wanna be like her when I grow up.
