prince  is  no  prince  at  all  ,   executioner  knows  .

then  again  ,   he’s  met  princes  before   (   too  many  to  count   )   each  of  their  own  kin  ,   and  ralsei  is  but  another  with  title  and  too  kind  eyes  ,   too  kind  heart  for  his  word  .   PRINCE  ,   PRINCE  !   he  chirps  ,   and  oh  his  tale  is  a  gentle  one  sans  has  taken  care  to  remember  ,  for  prophecies  do  never  bode  well          but  it  is  something  else  that  clings  to  child  that  keeps  his  attention  .

he  is  alone  ,   isn’t  he  ?

(   sans  is  not  a  resentful  creature  .   bitter  ?   yes  .   oh  ,   he  can  be  bitter  all  he  likes  ,   and  when  brave  heart  came  home  hand  in  hand  with  prince  of  shadows  in  his  wake  ,   sans  had  clasped  his  teeth  shut  and  said  nothing  .   )

he  did  not  look  past  the  child  par  his  hand  in  hers  ,   and  how  it  had  taken  too  long  ,   too  long  for  him  to  see  tender  souled  for  who  he  is  .   (   he  still  does  not  at  times  .   but  it  is  the  quiet  look  in  his  eyes  ,   like  a  rotting  garden  ,   when  he  must  leave  /   oh  ,   sans  knows  that  look  ,   and  he  must  tear  himself  away  .   )

it  takes  moments  ,   few  ,   precious  moments  .   moments  like  these  .

he  is  not  as  subtle  as  he  would  like  to  think  .

“ * huh? ”     lies  .  they  are  his  word  ,   and  they  twist  his  tongue  so  easily  that  they  spill  like  blood  ,   rich  and  thick  .   (   THEY  TOLD  YOU  SKELETONS  DO  NOT  BLEED          THEY  LIED  .   why  ?   why  ,   because  they  are  still  dying  ,   even  now  ,   flesh  stripped  from  their  bones  and  hearts  plucked  ,   stolen  from  hollow  chests  .   why  ?   because  they  can  still  feel  ,   and  they  are  in  pain  .   )     

“ * kid, i dunno what you’re talking about. ”

sans  speaks  amiably  to  prince  ,   and  thinks  he  has  yet  to  earn  that  title  ,   but  he  can  see  how  one  day  ?   one  day  it  will  suit  him  for  all  his  quiet  strength  .   olivia  does  not  deserve  him  ,   BUT  THEY  DO  NOT  DESERVE  THIS  WORLD  .

he  grins  ,   a  sly  thing  .

“ * … unless you mean the ‘dogs. in which i can neither confirm nor deny if they’re cattails. ”
