" Just 'cuz I live over in Duckburg doesn' mean I can't make time to fight my nemesis. RIP to that other blue blur but I'm built different. "
❝ Ah, Eggette! Just the niece I was looking for, ❞ the man chirps gleefully, rounding the corner and suddenly settling a firm hand on her shoulder as he pulls her along eagerly. Sorry if you had anything planned for the day, Eggette. He's in a good mood, that anyone can tell -- but that didn't necessarily connote good things in this family. Oh, no, anything but. ❝ I've just finished up some diagnostics, and I need someone to help test prototypes! ❞
Eggette cannot help the tiny squeak that emerges from the surprise affection, allowing Eggman the opportunity to move the unmovable. Just when she had that date to watch paint dry ... But Eggman's good mood seemed to be much more important than letting herself zone out into infinity.
Her body stumbles as her mind tries to catch up with the sudden new turn her life has taken at this moment. Hello, Uncle. Good to see you too. She allows herself a brief chuckle, before taking a hold of one of his hands.
" Sure thing, Ivo. " Eggette replied, already preparing herself for the not-so-fun fireworks. " Must be pretty big, huh? You seem excited. "
" Tails? " there's a double take from the man, far too used having his fortress broken into but not in absence of a certain someone else. He hasn't even been up to anything recently! A squint from the man, and the floating monitor whips left and right briskly. Eggman faces his 'guest,' then asks, " Alright, where's the blue pest? You're usually in tow! " / @eggomaniac thinking abt that whole plot of tails going to eggman for answers on solaris 👀
House Calls || @eggomaniac
"Uh... 'Ho there, Doctor..." Trust and believe, it's an odd sort of circumstance for the fox-kit, too.
It all felt strange— he should have been thundering through a facility like this with his friends and reckless abandon in tow. Sonic would shout something like, "C'mon! Let's show'em the door!", then Knuckles and or Amy would give a rallying cry behind him, depending on the day of the week.
There would be cacophanous detonations of Badniks bursting in air, scrap metal like confetti scattering this way, that way, and every which way! Finally, the mean ol' Doctor Robotnik would fall to their conjoined might, shaking his fist as he flew away to start another attempt at the end of the world. One of which they would handily thwart, of course.
...This, though? It truly showed the difference that the fox's companions made. The fox flew passively— nary a machine so much as dented upon his entry. You wouldn't even know he was there if you weren't looking for him. Sure, he had to tamper with some security locks to see himself in, yet even those were set back to normal once an entry point had been made.
The child was being... polite. Overwhelmingly so. In an Eggman base. Those two concepts didn't often pair themselves with one another so easily. But there he stood, sky-blue eyes gazing into the Doctor's portable monitor.
"Usually, yes, but... it's just me this time, promise! Because... let's be real, you'd know if he was here or not by now, don't you think? He's not exactly the herald of subtle entrances." Eyes roll with a smirk before returning to task.
"Anyways, can we talk? A lot's been going on, and I'm kind of running out of half-decent avenues towards progress..." Words fall to the wayside, sights flicking in thought. "—I can probably find a way to make it worth your while. I'm willing to negotiate." Because the Doctor didn't work with anyone without a handshake.
He's not helping him blow up the planet or anything, but there aren't many people in the world who can go toe-to-toe with Robotnik's raw intellect. Tails was one such rare individual. He was sure there was some piece of tech or patent-worthy idea he could offer to grease the wheels, so to speak. Anything to get his foot in the door.
unironically the funniest idea to come out of the unofficial sonic chronicles 2 plot
" ....... "
" ... How'd he get a higher score than me? "
@eggomaniac said: The man grabs his nemesis' arm roughly, halting any ideas of deterring their oppressor as he drags him back behind the rock. There's an index finger to his lips as he watches on eagerly, seeing a swift kick to the generator -- and suddenly, the thing whirrs to life before the killer's very eyes.
The threat of his life and the lives of others hanging over his head was nothing new to Sonic the Hedgehog, but he had to say this was the least of his favorite adventures. Hardly something he’d consider an adventure at all, to be honest. The sounds of screams, people screams, in the distance that practically taunted him. Screams of people he couldn’t protect. Not like this, not with his abilities constantly suppressed in these realms. It stirred a thick rage within him that he could do little about, besides make himself a royal pain in the ass of the those who hunted them all down. But even that proved to be more trouble than it was worth.
Seeing the killer approach the final generator they had been studiously working to complete was already enough to set the hedgehog a seething ( HE’S PATIENT AND LEVEL HEADED UNTIL HE ISN’T - but it’s lucky he’s paired with someone who knew that about him quite well already. ) The hedgehog’s legs flail in an S shape as he’s yanked into their hiding place, only ceasing movement when he sees the generator miraculously start up, and the tell-tale sound of the exit gates being powered.
“ No way... ” He mouths, ears flicking towards the direction of the closest gate. Sonic’s expression mirrors the killer’s own, completely slack jawed in surprise, for that was not something he’d expected. Once their hunter was out of earshot, he just turns to his nemesis with impossibly delighted grin on his face. “ You’re a class act, Egghead. ”
❝ If this is another of your tarot card sessions, I'm not interested. ❞
❝ Aww. C’mon, Doctor Robotnik. ❞ She waggled an index from behind her bars. One of the unfortunate sides of being kidnapped was waiting for your true blue hero to come rescue you. While Amy could have, probably, made a decent way out on her own - sometimes, you just really really wanted the romantic moment of being scooped up in your not-boyfriend's arms. The waiting game would be all worth it in the end.
…
She thumbed through her cards, shuffling them deliberately. The pink hedgehog leaned against her cage, taking in the intricate design of her worn deck. She won’t forget the first reading she gave the mad genius. Why wouldn’t she offer another? Given his first reading, though, she might have to put more on the table.
❝ Okay. Tell you what. ❞ She pushed the deck back together, ❝ Let me do this for you, and I’ll owe you a favor! Any favor, of dubious morality. ❞ She wasn’t sure if she was going to regret this promise, but it sure beat laying on the floor for the next few hours. ❝ Pretty please? With a cherry on top? Help a gal out. ❞
❝ Who are her parents? ❞ the man inquires, a curious glance from him as an index finger settles on his chin. Given there's no Eggette to be found in his universe -- THAT HE KNOWS OF -- he's drawing a blank. ❝ Was it our brother's, or… ❞
It was an easy answer for anyone who wasn’t named Doctor Eggman. He entertained the plain truth of the matter - She was his brother’s child; Taken in at a young age for the simple fact that she excelled well beyond any school and gifted program could teach Eggette. As someone who understood her never-ending thirst for knowledge and the frustrations of being held back by the masses, he simply wanted to give her the opportunities he wished he had when he was younger.
Conquering the world kind of just became a part of that.
While the man was grateful for the opportunity to teach her; where was the fun in being honest? It wouldn’t take long for the other Eggman to catch onto the lie he was beginning to web, but Ivo would enjoy himself before he did.
❝ Ah, yes … ❞ His voice dropped low, only for his smile to slowly trail away. He wrapped an arm around the other Eggman, pulling the alternate closer. Prepared to share a faux secret. ❝ I didn’t want to mention it while the kid was in the room … but would you believe the parent to be me? ❞
Please, Gaia, if you had any mercy for him left - let him get through this without breaking down into laughter.
❝ Failed clone. She inherited a lot of me! But didn't make the mark I was looking for. Poor thing doesn’t know. I never had the heart to tell her. ❞
Help.
