The Lines That Define Me

An all-around feel-good movie about art, friendship and found family that emphasizes, accentuates and highlights the fact that if you want to excel at something? Practice. Practice. Practice. And some more practice. Hours, days, weeks of practice. Talent is needed, certainly, but you will get nothing for free. Ever.

I loved that there were no bad people here. They were all good and loving and... well, good. Bad things happen to the best of us and it's all about how we deal with them. We can succumb, wallow and get stuck, or we can get up, dust ourselves off and do something with our life. Anything. Find a thing, a cause that will speak to us. And move on. Not forget, never that. Just... move forward.

Besides Yokohama Ryusei as Aoyama, whom I really loved here was Eguchi Yosuke as Nishihama. He's always fantastic, an actor of great range and much talent, but here he simply gave me warm fuzzies - like he did playing Ichigo's dad in the Bleach movie, gosh that was so awesome. As Nishihama, the way he took care of Kozan Sensei and the house and everything, the way he cooked and did the shopping and simply cared, being the heart of their little found family was just sweet. And when he then grabbed a brush and started painting... wow, honestly? That was the most breathtaking moment of the whole movie for me, hands down!

So, if you like warm, feel-good movies about healing, found family, friendship and art, I can highly recommend this movie to you!
