This article discusses the impact that makeup has had for men. In the past, 4000 BCE - 18th century, men have consistently worn makeup. Then, the queen of Britain at the time declared makeup to be vulgar and it was no longer popular. The church deemed it as “The Devil’s work”. Then by the 20th century it was seen as a girls-only pursuit. Around the time of 2017 this stigma has began to change. While more and more men are starting and continuing to wear makeup, the topic is still somewhat taboo and makes more conservative people, who may be uncomfortable with their own masculinity, feel weirded out by men wearing makeup.
