Love that Ehlek's entire motivation for violently hating the Matoran of Mahri Nui and killing them at any and every opportunity is that he saw how depressed his fellow Barraki were about being mutated into monsters and forced to live underwater, and since he was used to being a sea creature already, he decided to spend his time building a really nice fortress for all of them to live in so they could feel like kings again, and then just before they could all move in, an entire village of Mata Nui's favourite little fuckers just falls out of nowhere and lands on it.

Like damn buddy, I'd be pissed too.

Sargus, Herald of Ehlek

In the brief time peace during the rule of the League of Six Kingdoms, most of the Barraki Warlords would spend their time making lavish shows of their nobility and grace, doling out decrees and laws in flashy processions with many guards and courtesans from their own species. One major exception to this was Ehlek, who loathed walking amongst the “Gas breathers.” Instead, he appointed several “Princes of the Seas,” heralds who would go across his domain and deliver his decrees for him, often accompanied by Skakdi guards. He made sure these members of his race were the tallest, most handsome, and most graceful nobles, not that the Matoran and Skakdi of his domain would find them so. More about Sargus himself below!

Befoe making this build @kopakaskoolkompanion got me thinking about Ehlek’s species, and how little Ehlek himself was mutated by the pit. The character of Sargus came to mind instantly, a courtesan in Ehlek’s closest circle, maybe even one taller and considered more pleasing to look at than Ehlek himself (therefore giving Ehlek a sort of short and bitter Napoleonic stance and demeanor).

A lot of Sargus was simply modeled after Ehlek, but I tried to lean hard into the unique character in his face and breathing apparatus. Ehlek’s face was apparently almost completely unchanged by the pit, so just trying to make something similar, yet more fish-like, yielded some pretty intriguing features. I initially also made Sargus a weapon, but quickly realized the character wouldn’t be the one fighting, he’s a nobleman, and one with a cushy job that lets him be as much as a weak-shouldered hand-wringing pushover as he wants! He’s got probably upwards of four Skakdi soldiers to carry him around on sedan chair at all times.

I haven’t really thought too hard if he ends up in the pit for being complicit in the plot to take over the universe, but considering how much the Barraki’s armies end up there as well I don’t see why he wouldn’t. Like Ehlek he’s probably pretty at home in the pit, and probably not too mutated like the other Barraki. He’d probably also try to stay as far away from the fighting as possible, unless he saw an opportunity to grab the Ignika and be useful to the warlords again.
