"Can you tell me another story about Egypt?" The master shifts in her chair as she gives the Sun King a rare look of innocent curiosity.
AN EASY WAY TO earn growing respect from Ozymandias was to genuinely show interest in either who he is as a person, or in the land he ruled. As a king, he held great pride in his homeland -- in its people and customs. He was a selfish man who sought to elevate his name throughout all time, but his love for his kingdom was not false. ❝Hmm...I wonder what story you would like to hear this time?❞ He leaned back against his seat, hand coming to rub his chin in thought. It was then a thought came to mind -- a silly one, really, in comparison to all else he could have shared with Ryder. Leaning forward, he grinned, voice lowered as if he was sharing a secret. ❝Did you know that camels were not seen in great quantity like now? I think...I only saw them twice at the market and they were considered unruly and difficult to train by their handler. Even horses were truly only owned by nobility rather than any commoner. What you saw from them was oftentimes donkeys and the like.❞
Leaning back, smirk still lingered upon his lips as he allowed that bit of information to sink in. ❝Even then, I had never heard that camels could have two humps upon their back. The only ones I had ever bore witness to, as rare as that was, only held one. Looking back, taming such beasts would have been wise had we enough trade to bring them to the desert during my reign. A creature that stores water in its hump would be far easier to travel the desert with than oxen, horses, and donkeys. Less expensive too.❞ After all, horses and the like had to constantly drink just as humans did which meant less water overall.
