OPLA Reverie - 8 years ago- and the current political situation in One Piece
* contains manga spoilers*
I wanted to make a post focusing on the Reverie we saw as a flashback via the eyes of little Vivi. More specifically, I wanted to talk about the leaders we are introduced to and how they fare in the current timeline ( which means this post contains spoilers up until Reverie/Egghead arcs).
The only person who actually had the courage to disagree with Wapol's nonsense was King Cobra of Alabasta. A King who was highly regarded as a a wise and fair king (even the leader of the revolutionary army, Dragon, has acknowledged that). During the Reverie arc, he wasn't afraid to stand his ground against the five elders and ask them questions about D clan they desperately wanted to hide. He pay with his life for this action of his, but once again proved that a true leader prioritises the prosperity of his Kingdom over his self preservation.
Unlike King Cobra, the rest of the Kings of the Reverie that happened 8 years ago stayed silent when King Wapol was talking how he views his subjects as a little more than slaves. Perhaps, some of them even agreed with his mentality. And even those who didn't, they didn't thought it was a serious matter to show disagreement.
Eight years later, on the current reverie, enters our boy, Sabo, who inspired 12 nations who had unjust rulers to start a revolution to get rid of their monarchs (8 of these nations succeed)
Unfortunately, Oda-sensei hasn't given us the complete list of those countries but we do know Lulusia Kingdom was among those countries wbl deposed their monarchs. Also, Eigis and Tajine Kingdoms are also among the countries who rebelled (we don't know if they were successful or not)
On the picture below the Rulers of Lulusia, Eigis and Tajine Kingdoms (as they are shown in the Live Action)
All of them on the current timeline have war flashbacks when Revolutionary Army or Flame Emperor Sabo are mentioned xD
Anyway, everyone say thank you Sabo for inspiring people of 12 countries to revolt against their tyrannical government.
