why are eiscue's heads... like that? can they even see through the eiscube??

they can't see very well through the ice, but sight isn't their primary way of navigating the world! they use their weird little hair for everything from hunting to detecting predators to noting environmental differences. they need to keep their heads at a low enough temperature to prevent overheating, so the ice cube is more important to their survival than clear vision.

and, to be honest...they don't really seem to care if they get lost? they're extremely good at adapting to new locations provided they're cool enough. which is helpful given that sometimes they get carried off by the sea and end up washing up somewhere new.
