AuRaugust 1 - Scales

“The Ejinn are an elusive bunch. It’s rare to see them and even rarer to find one up close - but what most can tell you is that we ain’t that different. Not... most of us. You know, it’s rare to see a guy from our tribe and Nhaama must really love you if you see one like me. See, these aren’t normal.”

That is what the man wishes he could tell you if you asked. But... he doesn’t. Instead he looks away and stares at the distant horizon of the Azim Steppe, one hand rubbing along the curious scales of his upper arm.

“They call me a fish. I... see why, but it still hurts, y’know? I ain’t a fish. I ain’t an animal to be caught in a net. I ain’t just something to be kept on display like an exotic pet. I’m a Xaela just like them.”

Hearing those you ask - “Have you ever wished to change them?”

And he answers within a heartbeat, with no hesitation.

“I always have.”
