I love ecology and I wanted to promote knowledge about the situation of each biome in Brazil through flags. First, the flag of Brazil has a ball in the center, like our current flag, but this time just with the Southern Cross. Six rays come out of this ball, representing the six biomes. The colors represent the elements of nature: water, earth and forest. So, the first biome in Mata Atlântica (Atlantic Forest). It's the rain forest on out coastline. The waves below represent the sea, and the curvy hills above represent the Serra. Above is the sky. The next is the Cerrado (also called Brazilian Savannah). The orange represents the soil, mostly orange-red. The green the vegetation, and the white star is the Sun, since this region gets a lot of sunshine. I chose to use a diagonal line separating the two halves of the flag to represent the crooked trees from this region. Now we get to Amazônia (the Amazon forest). This one is pretty straightforward: a large river in the middle of a dense forest. The next one is similar: Pantanal (Brazilian wetlands/swamp). I turned the river into an X cause water here flows really slowly and makes some weird curves. Now we have the Caatinga (Brazilian semi-arid). This time the sun is a red ball to show the heat. The vegetation is shown in green and white because the name ka'atinga means white forest in Old Tupi. The last one is Pampas (open fields). This area is mostly flat and covered in short grass.
