Caleb and Evelyn @ekpyrosxs
Evelyn sat at her dresser, staring blankly into the mirror at a reflection she could swear wasn’t hers. Today, she felt more down than she ever had before, tip-toeing on the edge of worthless. At least that’s what her boyfriend thought of her, he made that quite obvious during his display earlier this morning. Evelyn had been dating Tommy for a few months now and whilst all started off well, things started to backtrack. Not that she noticed. So he would say some mean things sometimes, or blame for getting things wrong, but that was okay, right? Blinded by her lust for him, Evelyn just couldn’t see the truth. However, today was different, because today, for the first time, Tommy had laid a physical hand on her and that action alone shocked her to her very core. The brunette had grown used to his verbal abuse, but never did she think he would really hurt her. No, not him, because he loved her. He said so himself.
She was in the kitchen making him breakfast in the hopes of putting a smile on his miserable face. Work had called him twenty times at five in the morning to come in, which of course but in him a bad mood right from the off. Being a little clumsy at the best of times, Evelyn tried to take extra care with what she was doing, however, being over-tired and still half asleep, it wasn’t long before she knocked the cup of coffee off the side. Unable to catch it, it wasn’t the smash that made her jump, it was the gruff voice that bellowed from right behind her. Words were shared, he was angry, she was trying to apologize, and then it happened, like a sudden flick of a light.
Tommy gripped her shoulders and shook her as he hurled his abuse towards her and not surprisingly, she started to cry. She expected him to back off. That was normally how it worked. He would call her worse than hell but he always stopped once he realized he had really upset her. Not today. Today, her tears only sparked a rage in him that she had never seen before and before she could even flinch, a gasp escaped her lips as his fist collided with her cheek. - Tears formed in Evelyn’s eyes as she recalled the moment, her fingertips ghosting over the forming bruise. Now wasn’t the time to crack though, not when she had Caleb due any minute. She applied some makeup, trying to cover it the best she could as she ruffled her hair so it was falling over her face.
As she heard the doorbell, Evelyn took a deep breath and rolled her sore shoulders, quickly making her way down the stairs. She paused for a minute before she opened the door, taking another deep breath as she placed a smile on her face. “What’s up” she smiled towards him, turning to the side as he walked in. “I forgot to get munchies so, I was thinking we can order a take out instead?” Evelyn asked, filling the silence before it could even arise. She knew in herself she was acting a little odd, but the more she tried to relax, the more paranoid she got that he would notice something. After all, if anyone was to notice her being off, it was going to be her best friend. “What’s the plan then, couple movies or something?”
