The Malpelo Monster, also nicknamed "El Monstro," is a large, shark-like cryptid that has been sighted in the waters around the island of Malpelo, 500 km west of Colombia. It is estimated to be around fifteen feet in length, with large eyes and a dorsal fin above its pectoral fins.
The creature was first sighted in the early 2000s, with an investigation into its existence launched in 2001 by Colombian biologist Sandra Bessudo. It is occasionally seen by divers in the area.
