this is an extremely self-indulgent question, and I don't even know whether you read my fic or recall the characters in it, but i'd love some thoughts or tidbits on where Eudora and his crew/ship stands in the 0k universe.

I don’t remember most of the supporting characters specifically, but overall: Probably doing pretty well? In general the 0kverse Empire is I think at least marginally more functional than the Goldenverse Empire, and it’s more modular – things are split up into functional squadrons of some size – so it’s a little harder to keep doing your own thing under the radar, but captains still have a huge amount of latitude in running their ships, so.

They might have a smaller ship? Really big 0kverse ships are almost always seadweller-captained.

…There would probably be personnel transfer hijinks of several sorts. Because in one direction that ship is a good place to stash your lowblooded or otherwise at-risk quadrant or friend to keep them safer, and in the other direction the crew on that ship seems really loyal and motivated! What if they were on MY ship?

…And Eudora would probably be happy that 0kverse purples aren’t required to do circus cult stuff.

I can’t put my finger on quite what bothers me about this face, but it just looks wrong on some fundamental level? Maybe I’m just too used to preternaturally beautiful FFXIV faces…

Being used to FFXIV faces really doesn’t help, but SWL faces are kind of janky, yeah. They’re like... you know how when someone who doesn’t have the skills to pull it off tries to do a super realistic portrait, but it ends up all stiff and wooden and all the wrong things are emphasized and everything is a little misproportioned? That’s SWL characters. A lot of them were like that before the reboot as it was, but now it’s slightly worse. 

Speaking of worse, they went way overboard with detail on the normal maps and textures so now the male bodies aren’t just super athletic (it was close to what the maximum muscle definition slider in FFXIV looks like), they have shrink-wrapped body builder muscles. It’s really offputting and I’m never, ever going to let any of my characters go without a shirt. Or long sleeves.

He’s so... enthusiastic. :’D 

I’m really annoyed that they ‘toned him down’ for the NA version - his text is so bland. I read a thing saying they chose to do that because his enthusiasm could be ‘problematic’ to NA audiences, which is just... there’s a difference between toning a character down and tweaking his dialogue to make him come across correctly for an audience of a different culture and stripping out any possibility that a male character just might be seen as romantically interested in a male PC. 

Like, SE, c’mon, we all know that the real reason is homophobia.

I did for a while but he didn’t say anything different, even post-game, so I stopped bothering, figuring I’m probably not really missing anything until I get past this scene.

Which is, wow. His Crystal Dragon Jesus Catholicism sure hasn’t made him repressed! XD

I SURE HAVE and now I’m scarred for life, that dungeon was a shitshow from start to finish

I have had a bad time the last four chunks of group content I’ve done - impatient tanks on all of them - but that was the worst, because even after the tank slowed the fuck down and took it easy for us noobs, I was still having a hell of a time managing my mana pool and keeping up with healing and cleansing. I don’t know why I had such a difficulty spike between Haukke Manor and the Longstop, but I did! No commendations but I’m not really surprised on that one; I hope they went to the DPSes because once they were allowed to be new at the content they did a good job.

Dungeoning has been kind of terrible in general for me the past couple of days.

I already complained to you about my Manor experience; I did Halatali yesterday after realizing I needed it for a GC promotion, and that was more or less okay other than that I didn’t realize that the first Aether thing was a teleporter and wasted maybe a whole minute of time until someone finally told me. No commendations on that either, even though I kept up with healing just fine. e_e

Titan was the second worst because even though I skipped most of the first cutscene, the moment I dropped out of it the other three were running at him. I had to scramble to them and get off a Protect, and was scrambling for the entire rest of the fight because the only mechanics anyone was really avoiding were the instakill since they were clearly used to burning through him ASAP.

Then guess who gets entombed? :’) Even better, the moment one of the DPSes freed me, I got caught in the instadeath attack. I literally couldn’t move and had to stand there and eat it. Somehow we didn’t wipe, though, they took him down before any of them ate it. I grumpily sat and watched my story cutscene all the way through... and came back to two commendations. ??? Maybe they had the good grace to realize they’d put someone new to the boss in a really bad spot. :P
