So apparently Dubbilex was murdered while Kon was dead. That was probably pretty upsetting to find out.

Yet another niche and unmarketable fic idea I'm probably not going to write: Kon finding out and reacting to what happened with Cadmus while he was dead

Mourning Dubbilex and making sure he gets some sort of grave or memorial.

Finding and talking to Jim Harper where he's run off to live in a trailer in the desert with his clone-daughter.

Finding and checking on the now-orphaned cloned Newsboys — who probably got put in the system since their progenitors were each other's only family (except for Jim Harper who's disappeared). …That's assuming the system considers them people which I think is likely, but not guaranteed. Would they stay wherever they were sent or run away? Where to?

Okay going forward I'm replacing my (extremely cumbersome to type, tumblr refuses to remember it) updates from the actually-reading-the-comics-trenches tag with comics exegesis.

I think my standards for considering something a "tumblr sexyman" are stricter than that wiki's. It doesn't count as a tumblr sexyman if it's clearly sexy by furry standards or monsterfucker standards or whatever and most of the people discussing its sexiness are so inclined. It has to either not be sexy by any well-established standards or many or most of the people discussing it are not otherwise interested in sexiness by its standards. —And also runaway popular on tumblr, obviously.

I have never seen whatever this is, but I have seen commercials for it — or something very like it — on the Sci-Fi Channel back when it was called that, captured on VHS recordings of episodes of Farscape or MST3K, In Days Of Yore.

So all I know about it besides this picture is the intonation of the Sci-Fi Channel promotional voiceover going "bLack scORPion!"

Concept: cursed blade rehabilitation center. Destroying a sentient weapon is expensive and highly unethical, so adventurers bring them to the center where highly trained staff can care for them and eventually find them forever homes. It turns out most cursed weapons are products of trauma and are not strictly evil themselves. Some blades turn out to be fiercely protective companions. Others don't even want to be weapons at all, finding joy in simple work like blacksmithing or farming. Most blades just need to be loved.

Revisiting the Lost Children Newsboy Legion

Okay so, I have in the past described the Newsboy Legion as appearing in Lost Children as a five-retcon pile-up because they are clearly describing themselves as the original Newsboy Legion but their roster does not reflect that.

But! The cloned versions who made up most of the roster as it appears when it appeared were implanted with the memories of the originals, to the point where they initially believed they were the originals. It's not out of the question that the whole orphan island ordeal could scramble things enough to confuse them again. (Although Bobby wasn't a clone and didn't have any implanted memories.)

If that's the case, and if we assume this universe reproduced their major New Earth story beats up to that point, then they dropped out of history more recently than any of the others except Greta — Bobby was introduced in 1994, after but not too long after the cloned Newsboys facilitated Kon's initial escape from Cadmus, and she wasn't there for long. So… in-universe probably like… okay I can't remember if the anniversary specials put a number on how long it's been on Prime Earth since its implied iteration of Death of Superman/Reign of the Supermen. I think it must be no less than five years and not more than ten.

So what are they coming back to?

We've actually seen very little of Prime Earth Cadmus. (STAR Labs seems to have displaced them as the go-to for unethical experiments.) They exist; they created Kon; they presumably cloned Jim Harper but may have really given him a new body this time; Jim Harper hasn't been working for or with them lately; someone named Rodriguez was working there as of the death of Superman. According to a holiday short they were in existence in some form recently.

From this I would conclude that the New Earth plotline where the majority of people associated or previously associated with Cadmus (including the original Newsboys and Dubbilex) are murdered* probably hasn't happened. The part where Jim Harper skedaddled to live in a trailer in New Mexico certainly hasn't.

So… are the original Newsboys still around to take in their clones again? Would the Lost Children Newsboys accept that when their implanted memories seem most prominent?

Hmm.
