"everyone should get more aromantic" can appeal to tumblr's sensibilities but I genuinely think everyone should also get more asexual. I don't mean everyone stop having sex, what I mean is
Sex is not essential. You can live without it. Full stop.
Not having sex isn't shameful or a sign of failure. It also doesn't make anyone boring.
You are not entitled to having sex with anybody and nobody is entitled to having sex with you.
Sex is not what makes someone an adult.
Nobody's worth is defined by how much sex they have or don't have.
Sex is not equally important to everyone.
You can have fulfilling and happy relationships without sex.
You should only have sex on your own terms, not because you feel like you owe it to someone, or because you feel like you'd be incomplete without it.
Know your boundaries around sex and be firm about them. Know how to respect other people's boundaries.
The previous point also applies when it comes to discussing sex. If someone doesn't wanna talk about it or hear about it you have to back down.
Anything can be sexual but not everything has to be sexual.
Cold and Lonely Light
A drabble-and-a-half for the 5/2/26 SWG Instadrabble session for the prompt: And there’s a cold, lonely light that shines from you
.
Finrod had always been very good at hiding his thoughts behind brilliant smiles and fair words. Finarfin knew this because he was the same—though he had never shone as brightly as any of his children—and even after so long a parting, even after death and war had taken their toll on them both, he knew his son.
When Finrod thought no one was looking the smile slipped. He still shone, his spirit restored and strengthened like tempered steel, but in those moments it was different. It did not dim, exactly, but it grew colder, and at times Finarfin found him looking out of a window toward the east, a hand reaching for an absent necklace (he wore many jewels, but never necklaces anymore).
Finally, Finarfin joined him at the window. “Tell me of Nargothrond?” he said quietly.
Finrod’s breath hitched; a tear escaped. “I miss it,” he whispered.
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

I feel obliged to point out that if every single person on tumblr answered the poll you still couldn't confidently say anything about the population you're actually interested in. Like, this is a good way to make a point, but it's not a sound study design.
Apparently someone got their car stuck on the light rail tracks at Mt. Baker. For those unfamiliar this is 35 feet up in the air
On Tuesday evening, a driver managed to drive their car on the light rail tracks from MLK Way & Walden St to Mount Baker station. The 70-yea

You should take some time to read @3liza's post documenting the Phantom Report Bug (which she deserves praise for doing, thank you eliza) and see how fucking broken Tumblr's report tool is. I also want to reiterate something she is once again correct about: no one files bug reports. I have first hand experience working at Tumblr and I remember having to tell web devs on Staff "i saw a post about someone talking about a bug" and they were unaware because no one followed through to file a bug. I have fixed bugs that I saw people posting about that were in my domain (I'm a mobile dev) but were not in the system. No this is not an endorsement of "complain about it enough and eventually someone will see it", this is an endorsement of "file a bug report directly to computer companies and people will most likely read it and probably fix it". I mean it this is not a Tumblr-only thing. I've seen this at every company I've worked for. Just fucking file a bug report please I beg you, software gets complicated and the devs are just unaware that there's a bug until you bring it to your attention. And they want to fix the bug! I promise!
WHAT AM I ALWAYS SAYING TO YOU PEOPLE. COMPLAINING GETS THE GOODS. YOURE NOT ALLOWED TO GET MAD UNTIL YOUVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE PROBLEM TO SOMEONE WHOSE JOB IT IS TO FIX IT
POLITELY
And not just computers! It's happened twice now that the walk signal request at the intersection by my bus stop has stopped working, for several days, but been fixed the morning after I left a message with public works about it.
Really, Gordon? Really?
Like I guess he is one of relatively few good guys (…I think) who we know had a protracted affair outside his own marriage so I can't say this is out of character but it's seriously bad judgement.
I know being aroace I'm unfamiliar with the pressures they are presumably experiencing but still.
To be fair… sort of… I can see how losing the Commissioner position could have inclined Gordon to take more risks and give fewer fucks (strictly metaphorically, apparently). It's not his job to look out for Koyuki's kid and maybe he wants to dare Mayor Nakano to prove himself just as bad as all the others.
But it's just such a terrible idea.
Edit: Hmm, so there may or may not have been mind control involved?
Edit 2: No, the mind control was just for shooting the mayor, not the affair. I think.

How to look for indie comics from Black creators!
As you may know, there was recently a DC Comics boycott as a part of the DCSoWhite movement since DC has not had a mainline ongoing solo with a Black lead for over 1200 days. You can read more about this here, here, here, and here. The boycott has been cancelled (link), but that doesn't mean we can't still show support for Black comic creators!
One of the things the movement called for fans to do was to "[Support] Black creators through independent and creator-owned projects." So this post is meant to provide tips on how to do this.
Check out other works of Black creators you're already familiar with
The Black comic creators you're already a fan of who have made comics for DC or Marvel have likely also made comics for other publishers too. You can usually find out about other comics they've worked on through their Wikipedia page, social media pages, and their own website if they have one. And it's a good idea to follow their social media to learn about any of their projects in the future!
Look through indie publisher websites
A great way to find out about indie comics is to check out indie publishers' websites. There will almost always be a page on their websites with all their comics so you can easily look through them and the creators will be listed so you can look into the creators too. This is one way to find out about Black comic creators who you might not already be familiar with.
The publishers that are listed as examples in the webpages linked above are Image Comics, BOOM! Studios, Vault Comics, Ignition Press, and Stranger Comics.
Check out existing lists
There are already lists online that specifically recommend Black creators to check out and comics by Black creators. You can also find recommendations and lists on social media. This is another great way to find out about Black comic creators you're not yet familiar with.
Speaking of lists, I would like to point you to this post by @bimboopo which includes a list of many Black webtoon creators which you can go check out!
Hopefully this guide will help people find out about more comics by Black creators. Support these creators by reading, buying, and talking about their comics. And even if the boycott is over, still make sure to sign the petition.
My character preferences tend to be… well, besides my bias towards book-smart characters, if there's a hero and an antihero I usually prefer the hero.
So I was really surprised to like Gabby-chan from Yomi no Tsugai as much as I have! Normally the kid inflicting the most graphic violence in a very violent episode would be getting pity from me at best, but I like her.
Think it might be the air of burnt-out "I don't want to be here and my fucks have runneth dry" which I think you're less likely to see in young and female characters? Hmm, or maybe that's not so rare. —Actually it may make a difference to me that she's female but not sexualized or aggressively girly. Hmm.
I'm kicking around Nichonnen in Of the Daughters of Finwë again but I keep having trouble because Aman being what it is she would have an opportunity to ask her birth parents why they Did That (had a baby on the Helcaraxë on purpose) and I do not know why they Did That.
Fear of death had them panicking and wanting a baby to make their marriage more real Just In Case and it didn't occur to them that this would drastically increase the risk of death?
They were right at the stage in their relationship where they want kids so their libido spikes for the first time ever, and they never learned how to ignore it and never learned it's technically possible to (a) have sex without trying for kids or (b) allow an early-stage pregnancy to fade rather than nurturing it?
…Yeah, it's probably the second one. It just wasn't a priority in Time of the Trees Valinor, because (in my interpretation) people mostly don't have much if any libido unless they do want kids and if they want kids there's no reason not to have them is there? Resources and safety aren't a concern. Not so elsewhere!
Happy pride month my peeps!! (Why the fuck are we half way thru the year already?)
Anyway, I know that a lot of people here on tumblr do not actually buy comics, but I do want to encourage people to think about what you can do to support DCBlackout. I know that I am not a person who's purchases drive metrics at DC comics. I only put in a preorder for comics once in a blue moon, I read digitally, and I buy collected editions, but yesterday I canceled my dcui subscription and while the boycott continues, I'm not going to renew it. While I'll probably still get dc comics through second hand sources here and there, I'm not going to buy any new comics from them either.
There should be more opportunities for black creators at DC and there should be more stories for characters like Nubia, Steel, Vixen, The Signal, Mr Terrific, everyone from Milestone and more.
Even if you're not a comics buyer, you can still sign the petition and you can share your favorite independent comics from black creators. I'll start: Everyone should read Prince of Cats by Ronald Wimberly.
Try and seek out new works and expand your horizons. That's what I'll be doing.
Back in 2020 @bimboopo started putting together a list of black webcomic creators! Boosting her post to this discussion to help people find some new things seems helpful but I don't want to skip over giving her visibility for it, so you can find her own post about the list and a link to it here.
If you don't do anything else at least sign the petition. I was shocked at how few signatures it has.
You listen to music regularly? Why? Have you even tried quitting? Could you quit? You get music stuck in your head? Wow. You're so ruined and music brained. I bet you make your partners listen to music with you when you have sex. Music addiction has really ruined a whole generation. You know it's not realistic to expect reverb in real life, right? You're probably so desensitized that you don't even feel anything anymore when you hear a bird singing that it wants some fuck.
I don't have a problem with people listening to music per se, but I do have a problem with the music industry exploiting & mistreating artists.
Personally, I abstain from all music in order to keep my hands clean but really music should just be illegal outright to protect musicians from abuse.
holy shit this person in the notes
THIS is the comic that has been banned
It was flagged as "Eksplicit", shadowbanned, and every reblog turned invisible. The flagging is also unappealable (unless that is an error, thanks tumblr)
Happy Trans Day of Invisibility from your tumblr mods!
Only found out because I tried to reblog with an update from your local trans unicorn siblings!
I cannot even LINK to my old comic without every new post getting deleted.
And yet, we will CONTINUE to exist, and grow, and find each other. We will be visible up to and beyond our own deaths. Because we stand for love. We love ourselves and each other and that just makes us stronger.
Happy pride!
The original post was pardoned, but the shadowban still persisted and every reblog was hidden from the dash and flagged explicit. I'm not sure if it recovered by now, or if it's always going to be at risk of banning.
So whatever staff reviewed my complaint agreed that it wasn't explicit. So thank you for that, moderator. This highlights that the problem starts with bad actors reporting anything they don't like, and that it's a tossup if your appeal is seen by a bot, a normal human, or a bigot.
I'm grateful I can still touch people and spread positivity. Many of my queer siblings, brothers, and sisters - especially trans sisters - can't say the same.
But no matter what happens, we will always have each other. Every letter in our alphabet is a pillar holding up a beautiful world that only stands if we're all in it together. The world may call you a monster, but it calls me one too. Maybe you won't hear it from the rest of them, but listen and you will hear it from me.
I love you.
I always will.
i wish that the "bad people don't worry about whether they're bad people" myth was less pervasive in posts about moral OCD. you can tell it's false if you look at the world for more than a half-second, and i think the degree to which it is obviously false makes more people conclude that their OCD is correct. there are lots of self-hating terrible people out there. the crucial part is that their self-hatred is not making them into better people
Sometimes a family is just you, your coworker-turned-husband-because-he's-hiding-from-a-mafia, his teen half-brother, their dad who had been missing for ten years, a random child and the guy who you were all supposed to kill.
