Couatl Quen: Goddess of Illusion 

Couatl Quen is a fearsome and enigmatic eldritch god that is said to take the form of a snake-like creature, with a golden mask adorning its face. As the 'goddess' of illusion, Couatl Quen is renowned for its ability to manipulate reality and bend the minds of those who dare to challenge it. Its followers believe that it possesses the power to shape the world around it to its will. 

Yet, despite its immense power, Couatl Quen is a mysterious deity, and it true motives and intentions remain shrouded in secrecy. One thing is certain with this Eldritch being: those who seek to challenge the power of Couatl Quen do so at their peril.

The Story so Far:  The Gods of Acede

In the world of Acede, it’s hard to find a good soul anymore. That has never been more true than when a ragtag group of mercenaries come together under the payment of a tiefling. Artemis, Derek, Ephemra, Reigen and their unfriendly helper, Sariel set off to the dwarven kingdom of Prayric to kill the king.

Why? Who cares, they’re getting paid.

On the way, the group first encounters what seems to be a ditch of human and elven corpses. Derek tells Sariel that it’s probably from the dragonborn to the south, in Nau Golt, and that the group should head north around the mountains. To the north, they encounter some strange kind of necromancy, killing the trees and forcing the weather colder in the area, and after a fight with a few Draugr, Reigen blacks out, and a spirit or other personality named Aiden takes over. From there they find their way to a (demonic) monastery, where Aiden tries to investigate the monks’ way of life, at severe cost to his bodies mental state.

After hearing some strange noises, Artemis carefully evacuates everyone from the monastery and they set off towards Prayric once more. Once inside, Sariel lies to the king and says that they hope for the kings’ blessing in killing the demon-worshippers to the north.

Artemis, a half-demon, reacts badly to the cleric’s blessing, and the group attacks the king. Derek decapitates him, Reigen steals his crown, and they head back to Tudiff for payment.

Tudiff, they find on their return, has been ransacked and taken over by tieflings and half-demons. The town square, once bearing an insigna to God that has been smashed and ripped up, is now full of nothing but demons, the air heavy and tense in the area.

Artemis carefully lies their way through the encounter and gains the group extra money, and they part. Reigen says that he has to go to the capital of Eriloth, and Artemis offers to go with him.
