also the couple posts I made on election night are getting notes in exactly the WRONG order, why is the vague generic first-impulse one getting reblogged all over the place and criticized (understandably) for playing into the complacency some people are falling into
while the second post with tips on how to find and get involved with a concrete group doing concrete things is like. stagnant.
gah like. ok. that first post was addressed to people who have not yet started to Do A Thing at all, and that’s WHY it focuses on doing small things. which I realize I should’ve clarified but like. sigh. I KNOW that sending postcards to politicians isn’t going to fix the whole damn situation. I know that. I am doing other things too. please don’t assume I’m not.
but you can’t take a sixteen-year-old tumblr user who’s never been to a goddamn protest in their life and be like “ok go do civil disobedience and get arrested RIGHT NOW”???? and so many of the users on this site ARE young and AREN’T yet involved. people don’t just wake up one day and understand everything about organizing. you have to just -- start, you have to start with what you understand and can do.
anyway I wish people would stop reblogging it because it’s not as clear as I thought it was when I wrote it on Tuesday and that’s frustrating to me.
