Me (talking to mom through bathroom door): can I come in? Mom: yeah I'm decent Me: are you sure Mom: yes I'm decent Me: no you're not Mom: I'm decent Me: excuse me who did you vote for?
America needs to CALM DOWN.
GUYS. Seriously. The aftermath of the election is one of the most hypocritical things I’ve ever seen.
I think what gets me the most is this: People got very worked up about Trump saying that he would accept the results of the election if he won. A peaceful transfer of power became a BIG deal. Now? The same group of people who criticized Trump for what he said about accepting the results of the election are rioting. There are violent protests. Currently, I’m more worried about the results of Trump protests than about Trump himself.
We can make it through the next four years. But ONLY if we ACCEPT that Trump is our President-Elect. ONLY if we PEACEFULLY protest POLICIES AND ACTIONS rather than Trump’s presidency.
Trust me, I’m not happy that Trump’s president-elect. But guess what? We have checks and balances. He’s not going to be able to pass anything that goes against the Constitution. Trump doesn’t have all the power.
I value the fundamental ideals and governmental system of America FAR TOO MUCH to stand by and let people try and overthrow the system.
Also, in this time, what we really need to do is to unite ourselves. Dissociating yourselves from anyone and everyone who voted for Trump will bring divisiveness, not unity. Not everybody who voted for Trump is racist, sexist, ableist, misogynist, homophobic, etc. My dad voted for Trump in protest of the corruption he sees in Hillary. When he admitted this to my mom’s brother, my uncle promptly unfriended my dad on Facebook. My dad probably has the least of any of the aforementioned attitudes out of anybody I’ve ever met. My uncle’s attitude was highly offensive to my entire family, as well as being totally immature. This attitude is extremely divisive, and entirely opposes what we need right now.
The day after the election, I was distraught. Later in the day, I went to an early Veteran’s Day Assembly at my old school. We invite Veterans to come, and we honor them. Speeches are given about what it means to stand for America. Songs are sung and poems are recited by students and audience members. There are always plenty of tears. One of the songs we sang was God Bless the USA and some of the words really struck me.
“Cause the flag still stands for freedom And they can’t take that away And I’m proud to be an American Where at least I know I’m free And I won’t forget the men who died Who gave that right to me And I gladly stand up Next to you and defend her still today Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the USA!”
Please, think about what your actions are doing to our country. Fight for what already makes America great. But do so in a peaceable way. Help me get this out there.
Greetings
Alright, so I’ve thought about starting this blog a while back, but after last nights election, holy shit. It is time. We’ve elected the fourth horseman of the apocalypse as president and our union is dissolving as we speak, so I figured I might as well start a blog that documented my opinions on the hellscape we are about to find ourselves living in. How are you guys?
Good? Surviving? I hope so.
Here we are, day after election night and everyone is loosing their shit. Liberals are rioting in the streets, Trump supporters now proudly wearing their stupid “make america great again” hats and really no one is happy. The conservatives are pissed that the liberals are pissed and the liberals are pissed because their most basic human rights are about to be taken away, and generally they’re against that sort of thing.
The republicans are surprised that everyone is pissed?
Wow, shocker, most of the country is against terrible atrosities like conversion therapy, rape, deportation, legal POW torture and a giant ass cheeto in the white house. Oh, I’m sorry, President Elect Giant Ass Cheeto.
Thats right america, let that sink in. You did this. This election was historic, we had the first woman to hold the nomination for a major political party, and we voted in the first president who has never held a single elected or government job in his life. Thats right, Trump couldn’t even get elected treasurer of a high school glee club because they saw how shitty he was with money. Just because you have a lot of it doesn’t mean you know how to spend it.
To be completely honest there are not just several things I don’t agree with Mr. Trump on, the only thing I agree with him on is that America is a mess. And even then thats mostly his fault. Because of Trump being elected, people are too afraid to come out to friends and family for fear of the rise of hate crimes. Instead its now your family and friends who are coming out as open racists. Lets start the #ThanksTrump .
And while everything is shitty, and it seems like we are living in a modified version of the purge, in which it’s every day if your not a cis white male. Or that it also seems like we’re living in a version of the hunger games where we’re all begging to be chosen as tribute so we don’t have to ride this out. Remember to love each other. And while I’m mostly preaching to those who voted for Trump and are probably just about now realizing how much of a dick they where when voting now that their coworkers and friends are too scared to walk outside. Or their sister called them telling them they where too scared to go to work. Just don’t be jerks guys. Respect the people who are hurting and don’t you dare invalidate their suffering, they have a right to feel like the country has just fucked them up the ass, because it has.
So with that America I decide to stop procrastinating studying and thus begins this blog. I hope to try and update this mildly regularly as a way to relieve stress as I casually resemble the meme with the dog with the house burning down around him. This is fine. Your friendly reminder if you’re looking to defect, I hear Ireland is hiring.
Good luck America, We’re gonna need it.
y’all
I’ve been seeing a lot of posts going around about the hope that Trump will be impeached. This is not a good thing. If Trump is impeached, you know who becomes president? Mike Pence. And as we all know, or should know, Mike Pence is far, far worse than Trump. Please, for the love of god, don’t let Pence become president.
Honestly, I have not been ok since I heard the news this morning. I keep crying and I haven't stopped feeling sick to my stomach. I feel violated, betrayed, terrified, and just so helpless. It's scary knowing that my dad didn't vote for Hillary. When he took my mom and I to the polls, he kept making jokes about they're gonna arrest those who vote for Hillary and I flat out told him that jail time would be worth it. I haven't spoke to him or seen him since yesterday and I'm scared of what his reaction will. He'll probably grin and laugh and just be a smug bastard. And I know that if I cry in front of him, he'll just judge me and get angry even though he knows that I voted for Hillary. And then there's my sister. Granted, she's been trying to be sympathetic, but she texted me saying "sorry for your loss". She doesn't realize that just shows that she doesn't know what I'm going through. She's not just my sister, she's my BIG sister--the one person I should be able to trust to fully have my back. For the first time I feel like I've truly been fucked by an election and I'm severely worried for the future state of reproductive health care (I'm pro choice btw). But I still have to take a step back and realize that there are minorities that are feeling worse and will be affected more severely than I ever will, and I can't imagine the pain that they're going through. I do my best to be a good straight and white ally, and I really think this the time to show as much support as possible because I have now truly seen firsthand how low our country will go when we succumb to hate.
