Since you seem a but down about your element au, I wanna hear you spill about it, dont worry about talking my ear off, I genuinely wanna hear some (if not all) of your efforts to put into it, ive been away from alot of social media lately, dealing with life and all that, but I wanna hear you happy, I wanna make someone happy today, so hopefully that person is you, ❤

PLEASE KNOW I FUCKING LOVE YOU FOR THIS also so sorry it took me a while I haven’t had a moment to sit down and write out my thoughts. Anyway there is actually a first chapter! It’s here! I honestly think I did a shit job of talking about it on here so I blame some of it’s lack of acknowledgement on that but hopefully this post will boost it a bit?

So the premise is that the four elements are these spirits that have lived in Derry for god knows how long and have passed through different humans every time. At some point, they all come to the collective decision to pick four babies and essentially mold them into the perfect carrier and they’ll be the elements for eternity. As you guessed, those babies are Eddie, Bev, Mike and Richie (the other three come later). Eddie is air, Bev is fire, Mike is earth and Richie is water. The story takes place in their freshman year of high school which is when they all first meet. Eddie and Mike had spent their lives homeschooled, Bev went to an all girls school and Richie was in public school, narrowly avoiding each other for years. After the events of the first chapter, they start to get closer as friends and Richie introduces everyone to his friends Stan, Bill and Ben.

I think my favorite part about this all is the conflict i built for everyone. Mike isn’t content in Derry, he wants to see the world and be his own person but he forces his desires down because his spirit tells him he can’t leave and this is what’s best for him (which i think connects to Mike in canon, wanting to get out of Derry but staying instead for the sake of stopping It). Eddie is struggling for independence from both his mother and his (well meaning) spirit, he finds a lot of this in his element and his relationship with Richie, who he’s also told he can’t be around by his guardians. Richie is perfect for his element, they’re both fun and wild but Richie isn’t as carefree as he should be, he craves his relationship with Eddie and falls deeply in love when he’s supposed to be alone and independent forever. Beverly is too independent, her spirit helped her mature a lot way too soon and refuses to give into people, particularly Ben who is falling in love with her quickly.

So it’s a coming of age thing with a fuck ton of elemental obstacles thrown in! I’m kind of proud about Mike’s story and the character arc I planned out for him (which i didn’t write because secretttt) and I particularly love the love between Richie and Eddie because, in my eyes, water and air go hand-in-hand in nature, which is how I always see them!

I’m writing a one-shot about Richie and Eddie that I hope will satisfy my need to write about the au and inspire me to continue it but who knows! It was really fun just writing this out and finally getting to spill how I feel about it so thank you so much 🥺💕
