Empoleon and other scholars, there are Pokemon with blade like hands or limbs, heck I've even heard of a Pokemon that's literally a living sword and shield. You think it's possible these "elemental swords" are less so actual weapons, but actually a title referring to some mythical Pokemon? Perhaps its related to the legend of "the Swords of Justice?"

A spirit that lives between a sword and a shield, waiting to find worthy wielders of the swords they protect. It makes a very fascinating legend, but I am unsure of its validity as well.”
