don't think about the hug in 6x01 after Sherlock told Joan about his PCS, and the hug in 7x13, after Sherlock found out about Joan's cancer. don't think about how Sherlock didn't want her to hug him. don't think about how he must have found some comfort in the hug, because when faced with a similar situation, with their roles reversed, his way of comforting her was hugging her. and don't think about how Joan tried to stop him because she knows how he feels about hugs, but he didn't let her push him away. don't think about any of it because you will end up a crying mess on the floor like I am right now.
okay I'm not gonna lie, when Marcus asked Joan if she will tell Sherlock, for one terrifying moment I thought the secret is that Arthur is Sherlock's kid
obviously I realised that's stupid, but this is how much other tv shows ruined me with their bullshit.
I rarely watch the same episode of a tv show more than once. I can count on one hand how many times that's happened.
but I just watch the Elementary series finale (on my phone at work), and as soon as I get home I will watch it again.
it was beautiful and perfect in every way. thank you for the creators, cast and crew for giving us this closure.
Um...did Andrew just fucking die?!

The Art In The Blood
Okay so I know everyone is pretty angry about Elementary last night and to be clear I am too. As I have said since the very beginning Mycroft is a shmuck and Joan deserves better. I hated how easily she got back together with him and how the whole relationship is something we are just told about, not something we see or are allowed to judge for ourselves. But I feel a need to defend last nights Elementary, because I have faith. The writers have proven that they can write good relationships. And I don't just mean Joan and Sherlock, I mean Bell and Joan, and Bell and Sherlock, and Alfredo and Sherlock, hell I even like Gregson and Joan, and don't deny it but you loved Irene and Sherlock or Moriarty and Sherlock or even Joan and Moriarty. I'm going on a tangent here but my point is, they are good enough writers to make us care about even unconventional relationships, whether they be platonic or not. So the fact that we hate Mycroft and Joan so much shows that they don't want us to like them. They know Joan deserves better, I mean they gave us the the "I deserve better" speech. But put Joan into context, she has just had a traumatizing experience, one that she is trying to deal with by ignoring but she is not making good decisions. She is confused and upset and really hurt because someone she cares about has been lying to her and hurt her and she jumps on the first explanation she can get from him. She forgives so easily not for him but for her. She is so vulnerable right now and wants to be needed and doesn't want to need anyone because it makes her feel more vulnerable. This is why she pushes away Sherlock, this is why she decides to tell him she is moving out now, this is why she forgives Mycroft, because it makes her feel stronger. She is protecting someone else and she is showing the world that she is okay, even though she is not. In the end it all comes back to Sherlock because she feels she has given him so much of her life that she needs to take something back. Even though she doesn't see it now, her whole relationship with Mycroft is built off of Sherlock but she will see it someday. Joan and Mycroft can't last, just like Joan moving out can't last because even though Joan doesn't want to admit it she needs Sherlock just like he needs her. This is something Sherlock came to terms with very early in their relationship, but Joan is having trouble with this. She is not use to this kind of need and dependence outside of a romantic relationship and she is trying to keep a bit of herself for that romantic relationship that cannot happen with Sherlock around. They will come around to each other again, it will all work out somehow though I don't know how, this I have faith in because I have faith in the writers. They can write well, as we have seen in the past and they will not cheat Joan. This episode makes sense for her character if you think about it because Joan is not perfect. There's still one more episode of this season and I hope some of this will be resolved, though it may not all be but I have faith that eventually it will all work out.
OMG SO THAT'S HOW THEY BRING IN IRENE HOLY FUCK I LOVE THIS SHOW SJGHDJKFGHDFKJHGS
