ok... rampant copaganda aside, elementary really went off when they made sherlock's famed nemesis--professor mariarty--into a gorgeous woman/evil genius posing as irene adler (sherlock's lover). like first of all... twist of the decade tbh. second of all, way to take a famous historical character known for his disdain of women and make his ONE smarter-than-him rival into a woman. talk about a #girlboss 💁♀️
#NOT to mention taking dr watson#(a character originally portrayed as completely in awe of sherlock's deductions & unable to keep up with him#only to be portrayed as even MORE of a bumbling idiot in most tv/movie adaptations)#and turning him into a chinese american woman who can hold her own against him and eventually becomes#basically as good a detective as him??#also#and i know this is a minor one she only appears in a couple eps etc but#they made the doting widow landlord (mrs hudson) into a gorgeous trans woman who was an expert in ancient greek language??#and NOT a landlord?#in 2012!!#and it was relatively respectful??#sorry to keep talking about elementary its just bringing back memories of my sherlock holmes hyperfixation in hs#(not of the like. bbc show. this was before then. just the books and the jeremy brett series mostly. some basil rathbone)#elementary watch#(I'll tag for blacklist)
