my coworker who came back to work recently after suddenly losing her adult son & taking leave started telling me about him right as we were closing for the day and ive never been so conflicted about whether it was appropriate to hug someone but god i knew if i did id break for sure. i was barely holding it in as it was. thank god for face masks. she showed me his picture and his obituary and apparently he was about the same age as me and had all these accomplishments and did all this charity work and she was so proud of him. and the obituary seems to imply he committed suicide at the end and i just. idk how my coworker is still walking much less coming into work and cracking the occasional good-natured smile she always used to have. like my mom died of illness 2 and a half years ago and im still pretty sure im never gonna feel complete or content after that like its just before and after and god how does someone come back from THAT? just a fucking nightmare. dont kill yourselves guys youll make someone's younger coworker so fucking sad...
