I love adding bits of Tevinter identity to Fenris. A slight accent. Dropping bits of Tevene into his speech. His faith in Andraste being colored by the Tevinter Chantry, unconsciously internalizing some of their ideas. His sense of honor. His food preferences. His general demeanor and attitude. Tevinter was not kind to him but it's his culture, it's his upbringing, it was his home and the home of his mother. I genuinely think he'd identify himself as being Tevene even over being elven. He says as much to Merrill.

I think Fenris might be *the most* honest Dragon Age companion. He tells you exactly what's going on straight off the bat. No secrets. He doesn't lie or obfuscate the truth (except to Hadriana, notably). He doesn't manipulate. He doesn't care if you like him. He's blunt to a fault. If he disagrees with Hawke he doesn't butter them up or try to offer any kind of leverage, he's just like, "I think that's a fucking stupid idea, but if you insist."

I honestly think that Bioware is queerphobic towards Fenris and that's why they don't really talk about him / seem ashamed of him / are always talking about how they would have changed or redesigned his character.

Because he's bisexual, he's feminine, he's elven, he's a rape victim--he's not a "real man" and instead of examining their own biases they assume that's Fenris's fault somehow. It's fucking irritating.

Fenris is queer, he's androgynous, he's a rape victim, yeah. But those are facets of what make his character so fucking cool and beloved--just as important as his abrasiveness, violence, and fight for justice for his people.

And I'm tired of them being freaks about it.

If I had a nickel for every time I fell in love with a dog-coded bi dude who was groomed into being a weapon and had a codependent relationship with an old man, I'd have three nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened three times

I feel like so many of Fenris's animations are so feminine but most people would really only notice if like--Anders's or Varric's models were doing them. Fenris is animated a LOT like Morrigan actually

People always portray him as this angry animal but canon Fenris is all about STILLNESS. He is perfectly in control of his own body at all times. A lot of his most intimidating moments are just him looking at someone with the bitchiest "trying to kill you with my gaze" looks possible. Also he talks with his hands a lot
