Elfbruary Day 8: Arwen the Smith

I noticed in my recent reread that the banner Arwen makes isn't described as embroidered or woven. It's described as "made" and "wrought." Words Tolkien uses for things made through smithcraft. And the materials mentioned for the banner are metals, not any specific cloth.

And then I remembered both the brooch she left for Aragorn in Lothlorien and that it isn't mentioned who reforged Narsil. Arwen is associated with smithcraft, so why not her? :)

Next month it is again time to celebrate all our lovely elves with #elfbruary ! Aka. for one month, draw elves, write about elves, do crafts about elves and share it online under the tag! Fan art and original art most welcome, as are half elves UwU

There's no prompt list either, so do whatever makes you happy! Though, we could start working on one if people would like that(? please let me know!)

Today on #elfbruary is 03.02.2025, which means it's also the birthday of my characters Uji and Besu. It's been 12 years since I drew them for the first time.

This is the first ever drawing of them, from 03.02.2013. Back then they were side characters in another story, just regular elf twins living in the forest. They even wore matching outfits.

Nowadays they are the protagonists of their own story. A story I've been working on for years. Last year I made so much progress on the project, on the plot and the script that I know this is my year. This is their year. Our year. This year I will start a webcomic, and finally start telling their story to anyone who is interested.

Tales of Ticalia is a story about the twins Uji and Besu, and their complicated family drama, as Uji was kidnapped as a baby by their uncle and he will finally reunite with his family as an adult. Life is no bed of roses though. Or well. Life is trying to end the curse of the black roses before they end everything else.
