Ambush Interview: Eli Parker
Luke: So, what made you start making comics?
Eli Parker: Man, I don't even remember. I was like six or seven. I had some Calvin and Hobbes books and Peanuts books. I liked to draw dinosaurs. It was inevitable.
Luke: You used to make a lot of comics on Drunk Duck and some of these you never attributed to yourself. Is there any reason behind the separation?
Eli Parker: Hmm? Anything I haven't attributed myself I've just kind of forgotten about. Ha. Actually, I'm kind of curious about what you're referring to.
Luke: Well, Powerup for one thing. And I think there might have been one other
Eli Parker: I made that photocomic with my girlfriend that didn't last very long. Would like to pick it up again. I had kind of a pilot version of Tall Comics on there. I posted Too Far on there. Until I got a site for that. Powerup I have owned up to, even though really I should be credited as more director than author. I don't credit myself on Drunkduck for Powerup, because that would spoil it, to an extent.
Luke: With Unwinder's Tall Comics you avoid the most stereotypical gag based humor of the classic internet comics. Have you ever considered doing an ironically gag based comic?
Eli Parker: This is like an interview.
Luke: No, this is like … an Ambush Interview. Which is over. BAM!
Eli Parker creates Unwinder's Tall Comics which can be found here, he twitters here and the infamous Powerup Comics can be found here.
