Talk abt the chumtoads
this is a threat.
so my very tentative chumtoad chatter.... that will bleed into Glock and Barney chatter is....
Chumtoads are a large toad-like alien that occupies the caves and underground waterways of Xen. They hang out in groups of 3-4, and there may be an hierarchy, which could be settled by a lot of toad-style screaming. I think they eat microscopic critters found in Xen water (like a whale) but also prey on Snarks. When eating Snarks, they share it with other Chumtoads.
Chumtoads have the ability to teleport themselves to escape danger. In addition, they have a mild collective consciousness thing-- it doesn’t do much except let them find safe Chumtoads to teleport to. They do have fangs that can extend for self-defense, but no toxins to speak of.
I think they might have some abilities like the Vorts, but my only supports for that is the one big red eye, the sturdy hind-legs that seem very Vort-like, and their peaceable manner.
Also, they can eat a LOT of varied foods, including foreign fauna (like from say, Earth). Whatever fits in their mouth, they’ll try to eat it, and 8/10 times they’ll be able to digest it safely.
