The Rule: List 10 songs you’ve been digging lately!
The Trial by Pink Floyd. I only recently saw The Wall, and it was great! But the darkness and amazing lyrics and imagery of The Trial stayed with me and has become some sort of #big mood for me lately. Especially the wife’s angry words she’s spewing at Pink perfectly puts into words and imagery exactly how I felt a few months back.
Horizon by Tourist LeMC. Please. Please look up this artist. He’s an Antwerp singer who sings in dialect, and with lyrics like “moar deze stroad is fameus te zwoar, da had ik toen nog ni voor oge” (”but this battle is far too hard, back then I had no idea”) you can’t lose. I’d even recommend learning Flemish just for this song’s lyrics, because it’s amazing. Look ‘em up, either way. They’re perfect.
Armor and Sword by Rush. You didn’t think I could compile a list of amazing songs without Rush, right? And this is the exact song that made me want to drum. Thanks to it, I’ve even found someone who wants to teach me become an exquisite single armed drummer! (No, sadly it’s not Neil Peart himself.) That oughta give some interesting results.
This particular track from the Sims. Honestly? If you want to live, set aside 8 hours and listen to the entire Sims 1 soundtrack. Even if it’s not nostalgic to you, it’s still some of the best game music ever produced. Back from a time where we’d spend hours in build mode just to hear its music. All of Superstar’s music was exquisite, but if I had to choose one, this one and the song right after it take the absolute cake.
Spontaneous Bootay from South Park: The Fractured But Whole. That was a creative boss battle, and it just reeks of South Park. The track just works, and is hilarious on top of that. Especially if you know how Spontaneous Bootay looks and what her boss ability is.
Der ultimative Mann by Knorkator. Step one: learn this song’s lyrics. Step two: sing them. Step three: feel absolutely amazing. This song is so dumb and over the top, yet it’s the best song of its genre I know. It’s a power trip and as with any German music, it’s amazing to sing. One day I’ll sing along with that last 15 second long “Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaann”
Admission to Perdition and One Hell of a Time from Cuphead. These songs follow right next to each other in the same boss battle, so I count them as one. They did it. They took old timey instruments and ACTUALLY made a very modern, highly suspenseful and actually threatening boss battle music. The medley of all other boss battle themes in Admission to Perdition and the city band vibe in one Hell of a Time can kill a man.
Building the Crate from Chicken Run. Seriously. This song is so good. The scene this song appears in is amazing. You absolutely gotta watch Chicken Run if you haven’t, it’s one of my favourite movies with one of my favourite soundtracks. They made kazoos sound suspenseful. Kazoos!
Can I use Rush again? Because I’ve been listening to Tears a lot lately too. It’s so uncharacteristic for Rush, yet still an amazing Rush song. A bit cliché, but still fun to sing nonetheless. Let’s be honest, which Rush songs aren’t fun to sing along with? Even, especially, the instrumental ones.
Midnight Motorist from Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Simulator. Did I mention I suddenly started liking this game a few days ago and suddenly got stuck in its far too complex lore? Regardless of what you think of it, this minigame had the BEST music. In fact, the whole game had some stunning music. no judge pls
